Philly Dopefest, Sat., February 27, 2010

Hi!

How is everyone?

Twix and I feel it’s high time for a Dopefest in this here Philadelphiar region.

We were thinking February would be a good month. Personally I’m fond of Saturdays or Sundays.

I figured I’d just put some feelers out. How do the weekends of the 13th or 20th sound?

Any suggestions for venues? I know a couple of good places on campus, but that’s it.

Either of those weekends is okay for me.

Do we want to do some kind of outing, or just meet for a meal?

The weekend of the 20th works for me. I’ll be in Boston the weekend before.

Ok, does the 20th work for anyone else?

Both of those weekends are probably bad for me. I’ll definitely be out of town on the 20th, and I’m pretty sure that I’ll be busy on the 13th.

I think both those weekends work for me.

bump

Anyone else interested in the 20th?

I would really like you to be there. Is there another date that works better?

I could do lunch on the 13th.

Yeah, but ryobserver is out of town that weekend.

Is there some reason we’re not including the weekend of the 27th in the mix?

Good point. I could do lunch on the 27th as well.

That’s fine too. 27th work for everyone else?

The twenty seventh looks good for me.

I can do lunch on the 27th also. West Philly somewhere?

(And olives – check your PMs – I think I saw you the other day but I’m not sure and it’s driving me crazy.)

The 27th works fine for me, for lunch or dinner. I live in West Philly, so of course that would be fine; so is Center City if people prefer.

Okay, that’s five yeses and no noes for the 27th, so I added the date to the thread title.

Either CC or West Philly is fine for me – there’s Pietro’s (upscale pizza) near Rittenhouse Square, or the diner at 38th and Walnut, or …

Do you mean Philly Diner? Because the food’s been on a downturn lately (IMHO, YMMV, but me, I think hash browns should be cooked, not stirred in grease until warm. The red-orange color is a bit weird, too.). The Marathon Grill at 40th and Walnut (also several in CC, of course) is more reliable for diner-esque food, though more expensive.

I may not be able to work in a trip to Philly, but I do want **Twix **to check her junk mail, as my correspondence often winds up there. Of course, if you;re just ignoring me cuz the subject bores you or for other reasons, then that’s okay.

Are we still on for the 27th?

Last time I ate at Philly Diner, I had some very good onion rings, and a sandwich or burger or something. It was fine. The plus – it’s cheap. The minus – the food’s not particularly gourmet.

Who all is planning to come, and where do you want to eat?

I’m in, and I’m fine with pretty much any restaurant.
