The next time you do a Philly Dopefest, can you do it in South Florida? 'Cause that would be awesome…

Needless to say, I had a great time.
I couldn’t find Thrift For Aids. I did find a new magic shop. Then, I got lost, overshot Market street and literally almost wound up in New Jersey.
I eventually found my way to my friends’ place. One of them took great pictures of my weird toy and I shall start a thread asking for identification.
We’re back home now. It was nice meeting everyone and thank you, Twickster, for setting that up.
Monday night over here. We got back early this morning our time after a grueling 23-hour journey, although not our bags. Those arrived this afternoon. Our flight out of New York was delayed by a couple of hours, and when we changed planes in Taipei, they rushed us onto the next flight, which was sitting there waiting for us already loaded with passengers. There was no time for them to move the bags over. Since we knew what the deal was, that was actually okay with us, having our bags personally delivered and not having to screw with them at the airport. The other person changing planes was a little put out though, as she was a tourist who needed her stuff right away.
We’ve slept all day except to get up and take delivery of the bags. Mrs. Siam Sam is still snoozing away as I type this, a little after 7pm now. We’re finding it difficult readjusting to the time.
But thanks again. It was a fantastic trip. Our range was Hartford, Connecticut (friends live in a suburb) to Mount Vernon outside of DC. Geez, but Washington has some of the worst drivers I’ve seen. And what is it with all the “No right turn on red light signs”? Out West, we were taught that was a fundamental human right.
We arrived back in NYC early Friday afternoon, too late to see the space shuttle Enterprise flying piggybacked over the city. But when we went to JFK Airport for our flight the next morning, we passed by it, sitting at JFK Airport still piggybacked to the plane it came in on. Nice!
Thanks again. Our next trip to the US won’t be for some years and will probably be in Hawaii. But anyone up for a Waikiki Dopefest?
Glad you had such a nice trip, and glad you got home safe and sound (albeit without luggage).
Don’t forget to post the pic the waitress took at lunch!
Is it okay with everyone to post their photo?
That particular camera, which was eight years old, died on us later in DC. A camera shop told us the sensor was fried and that it would be too expensive to be repaired even if a new part could be found. The memory card is still good though, so we have all the photos on it. Used the wife’s camera for the rest of the trip.
Should be okay – with usernames, of course, not real names.
Bummer about the camera – glad the memory card was intact, though!
We’ll upload photos soon, and I’ll link to that one here. May take us a few days. We’ve been groggy and slept all day. Now it’s after 10pm and we’re wide awake!
We have the photos uploaded. I give you the attendees at the April 14 Philadelphia mini-Dopefest. From left: Cleophus, Twickster, Siam Sam, Mrs. Siam Sam, DocCathode, MsRobyn and Sprog of MsRobyn. The venue was the Continental Restaurant & Martini Bar in Philly’s Old Town. And a good time was had by all.
