Phlosphr goes to Court for a good cause. Disturbing incident..

I sure would like to shake your hand Phlosphr and the Missus too!
Job well done.

You kicked ass. You took names. You did the right thing. And the outcome could have been worse. A job well done, in my book.

Congratulations! Every so often, I wonder how the minds of people like Heinous Woman work, but I suspect that if I ever learned, I’d have to wash my brain out with soap.

CJ

Phlosphr, you kick SERIOUS ass.

/me bows to Phlosphr

Thanks for being that child’s hero.

Thanks for letting us know the outcome, Phlosphr, but more for doing your part and stickin’ it to HW, et al.

It’s really unfortunate that in this sort of health care field (much like in education) you hear stories about not being able to keep good people because of the low pay & grueling work, but then these low-lifes are allowed near humans.

You just saved many other kids from this ass’ abuse.

Phlosphr, this story put tears in my eyes.

You and your wife deserve more graditude than anyone can give you.

It’s unfortunate that this woman wasn’t put behind bars, but you did the right thing, the compassionate thing, the moral thing.

((((Phlosphr and Mrs. Phlosphr ))))

There should be more pople out there like the two of you.

Phlosphr and Mrs. Phlosphr, I was so disturbed by what happened – and other people had already said was I was thinking anyway – that I didn’t say anything in that other thread.

However, YOU DONE GOOD.

What twisted laws let HER sue? She should have been arrested on the spot. I will NEVER understand some people, and I think that is a good thing.

giving the Phlosphrs a virtual box of really expensive and yummy chocolate

As a Union attorney, I can tell you that the woman may have been protected by certain laws (and more likely, her union contract) regarding due process and property rights (to her job), but any just cause standard is overruled by truely egregious or outrageous acts–even a three strikes rule. From your description, this woman would have been justly dismissed even if she had been a long-time employee with no disciplinary actions against her!

I needed to hear something good today.

This was it.

You have renewed my faith in mankind. Thanks. Isn’t it nice to know that you had an effect on people you don’t know from other parts of the world?

And I’m glad you’re getting the cat. Things happen for a reason.

::more applause::

I can’t really add to what others have said so eloquently. Thank you, though.

you mentioned that this happened in a mall. i’m thinking security cameras and tapes. i’m rather surprised that crim. charges were not filed.

when you witness an assult in a mall or other public area, look around for cameras, check with security about tapes. it is possible to have a crim. investigation started with taped evidence.

i am glad you followed through with this. i’m sure every person who dealt with this woman on the job is very gratefull.

Philosphr and Mrs. Philosphr, if you’re ever going to be in Charleston SC, I’d love to buy you the beverage of your choice. Thank you for doing the right thing. People like you allow the little shred of hope in my heart to stay alive.

I remembered this case as soon as I read the “Goes to court” phrase. Good on ya!

Good on you for jamming a stick in that scumbag’s spokes. Jamming that stick where the sun doesn’t shine would have been even more appropriate. Those who abuse the defenseless are most cowardly of all. The bus driver who raped some disabled women passengers must be her fraternal twin brother.

Again, thank you for not hurrying off. You guys rock.

Thanks for making your corner of the world a better place!

Kallessa, thanks for your comments about union requirements. I’m glad to see that bit of information set straight.

I’m a great believer in Karma and the whole “what goes around, comes around”… HW will get hers for her abuse of the teenager…

GOOD on you for doing something - so many wouldn’t have gotten involved.

You are absolutely right. This woman had a union contract she was trying to have honored, in lieu of no formal criminal charges that would have made it nullified anyway. This is the kind of woman who would steal someones food stamps to buy a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20, before she’d feed her own kids.

But we did not know anything about the woman when we saw her commit this heinous act. We only learned more as we persued. Mrs.Phlosphr and I are just people. And this has certainly changed our lives. Not in any physical sense, but more an emotional sense. We have always - since we have known each other - been out-spoken people. Never letting anything even with each other slide. Neither one of us are exceptionally extroverted, ask me to get infront of a large crowd of strangers and lecture I will certainly feel uncomfortable.

I lecture for a living, but I do it infront of students, who are learning from me. Now that exams are well underway and almost finished infact, I am about to graduate off another round of students this year, my sixth round at this school. The one thing I hope they take with them aside from a mountainous amount of useless information, I hope they take the knowledge that they can change things with little effort just by speaking up. They don’t get THAT knowledge from lectures though, they get it through stories and heartfelt actions. Cite my thread about the boy who came to class repeatedly stoned. I tried my hardest to straiten a bent arrow with him, other students saw my efforts, and so did he. But did he turn around? In the end he put himself on academic probation and dropped my class.
It’s effort that works, just effort. Everyone has it, only some use it. There is a doper on here who is a college student in a wheel chair, I am forgetting her name, but it is that kind of effort that grabs my attention. Courage and effort, shes got it. A lot of other dopers have it, I am an optimist by nature. And I for one believe that human kind still has some tricks up it’s sleeve relating to random acts of kindness.

I saw this thread a few days ago but didn’t have the time to post to it. You give me renewed hope in human kind. Good show Phlosphr, may you and your wife be blessed!
