Did Phlosphr forget he was a member of the SCA and dressed in costume? He deserves to be caught in his lie. I’m not really seeing why there’s bile against the pitting. Well, other than the paranoid, accusatory stylistic elements.

As has been mentioned above, it’s quite possible to have owned and worn RenFaire garb without having been a member of the SCA. The SCA has much stricter rules about historical accuracy in materials and processes of construction than any RenFaire does. I can definitely understand his asking a question about that if he’s planning to actually join the SCA at this point, despite his having done RenFaires before.
I’m not so sure I agree it’s that clear-cut. The supposedly contradictory post is in a thread about SCA, true, but in its entirety it says:
He says “involved” - not “were members.” He also goes on to immediately mention the Renaissance Fair in Arizona, suggesting that he was involved with and talking about it, and not SCA - the two are not identical, and mead is available at both.
In the later thread, he says:
