I know you claimed to not be a livejournal goon (not that I’ll ever believe anything you ever write here again…), which is why I said:
In any case, you’re still a loser. Get a life.

Zoe, I’ve claimed a couple different ages in my tenure on the intarweb. I’ve altered a number of personal details for the sake of my own anonymity. And like Bricker, I don’t have a son called the anderling, nor am I married to someone named mrs andros.
What the fuck is it to you?
Since you asked, Zoe, see Neurotik’s post for answers to your “questions”.
Sam
I can tolerate these, as long as they are reasonable. I think using a fake “location” is slightly different than saying you’re American when you’re really German, for instance, but I can tolerate it as long as you’re not trying to pass yourself as an American patriot.
Remember Scylla’s brilliant Blimp thread? If at the end of that thread, he had admitted he had made the whole thing up, I would have been kinda disappointed. However, if someone uses the old device, “My friend once said…” to pass off a funny one-liner they heard on TV, then that doesn’t change the humor of the joke very much.
Lies told for the heck of it? Like saying you drive a Toyota Camry when you really drive a Chevy Corsica? No, it wouldn’t bother me but then again–how would something like this come out? I would hope no one would be that nosy that they would bother searching out what kinds of cars we actually drive. That would be kind of…scary.
Lies told for attention are annoying, and that was Kaitlyn’s crime. And that’s why he was banned.
Again, I think one can argue that was Kaityn’s crime as well. Lying for respect. And no, I don’t tolerate this kind of lying because it comes at the cost of people’s trust.
False identities, hmm. I have to think a little on this one. Some poster’s have identities that are really “out there”. For instance, I know many posters see “black woman” when they read my posts. If it came out that I was actually a blonde Scandinavian, I know that would piss people off because it would mean most of my participation on this board was just a load of BS. I think they would have a right to be angry, or at least disappointed.
But if it turned out that I was really a man instead of a female (as people tend to conclude anyway :)), I wouldn’t feel like people would have as much cause to get upset.
If it turned out that you were actually from the North, not the South, I might be a little disappointed as well. But if you turned out to be my age rather than a Baby Boomer, I’d laugh my ass off and say, “Good one, Zoe!”
I guess it would depend on why you wanted a false identity. I think Kaitlyn felt he was too boring and took on another persona. While pathetic, it’s not the worse thing in the world. Now, if someone was claiming to be rich so that they hook up with a pretty girl at the next DopeFest, then that would be disgusting.

totally unacceptable.
I don’t know what the purpose of this exercise was. If Phlosphr is in fact lying, then it would probably fall under 3, with the possibility of 4. And even if it was the latter, I argue that it is so miniscule a lie that it’s not worthy of a Pit Thread, let alone a banning.

Zoe, I don’t know if you’ll remember the couple of interactions that we’ve had here on the boards, but let me say that I respect and like you tremendously, and have always looked forward to reading your posts. So, instead of just assuming you’ve gone off on some wild assumption, I’d like to ask if you’ve taken your concerns to Phlosphr himself or a moderator or admin? Because you simply haven’t ever struck me as someone to fly off half-cocked and perhaps, contrary to speculation, you really are concerned about this for a legitimate reason and haven’t led with what you felt was the most damning (if it could be called that) inconsistency. You know, hoping maybe to first clear up a minor misconception before wading into something deeper.
Anyway, the results of how this is going (on both sides) is why I said in the K6 pit thread that I can understand why a long-term member in good standing might be reluctant to take this kind of thing on. If you’re not positive about how to proceed or make a misstep, even if it’s out of a genuine lack of maliciousness, but your other motives seems circumspect, it could end up being damaging to all parties involved. That said, I hope whatever has been bugging you about this situation gets resolved and no one’s reputation besmirched unjustly.
Lastly, to anyone who feels that the current climate could make the Dope unworthy of renewal (for whatever reason)… I submit that it is, and will be, only as great a place as the members choose to make it. If we allow paranoia to get this best of us, then there won’t be anyone to come out on top. And if we point out the ludicrous wherever we see it and champion the Fight On Ignorance ™, then that’s what it’s all about. Right?
Of course, that’s easy to say when it’s this obvious looking from the outside in. Perhaps for those who’ve already been there; it isn’t. I’m sorry if I’m over-simplifying. I just hope we can all ride out another storm back to normalcy. For us, anyway.
Actually, we seem to be of quite unanimous opinion about one thing:
. . . even if there might be some differences of opinion about exactly why the OP was stupid.
Zoe, the game isn’t worth the candle. I haven’t read the original stuff by Phlosphr, but I don’t think any issues of integrity are involved here.
faithfool, a voice in the wilderness! Tomndebb also suggested that I contact the staff, especially as it relates to things which could be harmful to others – medical advice or misinformation, etc.
monstro, you have sent a mixed message.
Judging from the responses on the scale so far, 1-9 minus 7, I did not make a mistake in pitting Phlospher. But I could have chosen a better time when I could have been a little more open.
We reading the same thread, here?
Are you having an adverse reaction to cough medicine or something? We’ve just spent 3 pages telling you WHY pitting Phlosphr for this was a mistake! What part of “the contradiction you found is not necessarily a contradiction” are you having trouble comprehending?
Remind me never to let you slip through voir dire if I’m ever on trial in your jurisdiction, 'kay?
Evidently not.
Zoe, you’re a dumbass. You’ve assumed malice where misunderstanding is more likely, the classic sign of a reactionary idiot. You’ve made yourself look petty, mean, and childish. You’ve made me think YOU might be a liar; the old “I have other evidence but I’m not sharing it right now” saw is the oldest lie in the book. Give up, for God’s sake, before you get banned for being a jerk.
Egad! I agree with Miller!
[pigs jubilantly fly around the office while Hell slowly and methodically freezes over]
Zoe, nobody in this thread thinks you did the right thing.
Nobody in this thread agrees with the OP.
Nobody in this thread agrees with your interpretation of the linked threads.
Nobody in this thread thinks Phlosopher is an evil liar who needed to be outed.
Nobody agrees with you, k? In spite of a few folks agreeing in general terms that “yeah, lying on the Internet is probly, like, bad”, still, overall nobody agrees that Phlosopher (a) is a liar and (b) needed a Pit thread to out him.
I love ya, but you’re off-base on this one.
Do yourself a favor; e-mail a mod and humbly request to have this puppy locked as an unfortunate waste of hamster energy.
I tried to be polite in my earliest reply in this thread, suggesting another interpretation of your so-called “evidence,” but I can see that it’s a waste of time.
It’s clear that you’re a delusional shithead.
This bears repeating.
I assume that Zoe is talking about this thread.
When would that be, exactly, and why can’t you be more open now?
I still would like to know his source for the Kaitlyn stories. As I said in another thread, they had to have happened to someone. Wonder if he got them from a book/website, or from someone he knows.
Zoe, just of out idle curiosity, which posts above are you relying upon to form this opinion?
Easy enough-he probably went to various transgender websites and forums and pulled various bits and pieces from there. However, he was stupid enough to change his age, his wife’s age, and use pictures of models.
