Phoenix doper pictures

Sorry about the delay but here are pictures of the Phoenix dopers at most recent get together. http://members.home.net/spad1/dopers/ Sorry about the dark and grainy quality but I was using a video camera without a basher.

Yay, Padeye! Looks like we actually had a good time that night. Whoever the dumbass was holding the camera got your first picture way off center though. Oh, wait a minute…

In case anyone is wondering - Jeff = Strainger, Steve = Padeye, Tessa = special.

Aghhh, you guys need Ted Turner to colorize you. Naw seriously, nice pics.

And I see you have a Browning Buckmark. I’m jealous. It’s something I’m currently coveting. I think I’d like the 5.5" target model though. I love the idea of that Weaver scope base running the entire lenght of the gun.

I had several minutes of video but it was difficult finding useful captures with the snappy. Most of the tape is audio of us saying incriminating things about fellow Dopers.

UB, The Buckmark is sweet. 2-1/2lb trigger out of the box. I’d like field model you’re coveting but it’s really pricey. The standard has the same sights, just about perfect balance and is a real bargain.

Next addition to the armory is a revolver for cowboy action shooting, probably a Cimarron 1873 Colt replica in .45 Colt/.45 ACP.

How do you get digital images off of video tape? What sort of equipment do you need? (And how much would that run?)

I use a Snappy capture device that plugs into the printer port. You can get it for about $60 at Costco, bundled with software for morphing, manipulating and editing. It works fairly well and will make nice crisp captures from a clean video tape. These are so grainy because there was little light. The only disadvantage to the Snappy is that it’s slow. When you click to capture it takes a second or so to actually grab the frame. That makes it hard to get the frame you want. Pausing the tape just makes the capture jittery and blurry. After capturing the picture it takes several more seconds to process it.
