Phred to Protest at funeral of Mormon leader

Yeah, that’s a mystery, especially given the persistent gay rumors concerning a couple of top-tier Scieno celebrities. Maybe even the Phelpses are afraid of the Scienos’ lawyers.

There’s a certain risk, though, of the Phelpses reaping a huge payday out of Scieno funds following any little dust-up. OTOH, the spectacle of a massively overblown, knock-down, dragged-out WBC v. Church of Scientology suit would be the litigious caged death match of the decade.

Tuba, I really hate to disagree with you, but the only way these folks will ever go out of business is if they do it to themselves, by infighting. I don’t think they would go the Jim Jones route, but you never know.

They simply will **not ** be ignored. I’ve watched them, from here in Topeka, from their early days of picketing in 1992. I’ve stood on counterpicket lines at a church they were persecuting, where it would be one of them, one of us, one of them, one of us… (BTW, that was before the congregation got an injunction against them. ) I’ve been close enough to Fred on those lines(in the early days, not recently) to be able to touch him, ugh) I’ve seen where the WBC goons invaded the property of my own church, to wrestle to the ground our own minister.

They must be watched, for they are dangerous. If you look at their faxes from the early days you’ll note they are fairly innocuous. Then when those got to be old hat, they kicked it up, notch by notch. No matter how bad they are, sooner or later folks get “used to it” and they demand attention by finding something even worse to say, or do. There’s always something.

I sympathize with you, Baker; it must be very difficult to live in proximity to such offensive behavior.

Had a few run-ins with those folks over the years. In my favorite situation the band that was marching past them and being yelled at stopped in front of them, everybody put down their horns for a moment, and sang "Jesus loves the little children . . . " Very cool.

How would I do if I had to hear them, see them all the time? I hope I never have to find out.

I like your thinking and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Tuba, I would have paid good money to see that. My hat’s off to you.
