Piano players: How do I play Satie's 1. Gymnopedie?

I’m working up an easy piano repertoire during my current episode of unemployment.

Truth be told, my ‘piano’ is an old Roland D-50 controlling a sample playback program on my computer (Sampletank/Sonic synth).

Anyway…

Upon hearing this lovely simple piece at the end of My Dinner With Andre I said to myself “Hey, I can play that!”.

I was able to grab the music from sheet music archive and away I went. For four bars. Since it takes my two hands for me to play the bass & chords I didn’t have anything left to play the melody.

Is this piece actually for two players?

Is there something I’m supposed to do with pedals (I have none)?

Is this piece typically played by one player differently than how it’s actually written?

How can I play it?

I haven’t played this yet, but looking at the music, left hand plays bass and chords, right hand plays melody. A sustain pedal is essential.

Terminus Est is spot-on. Have you got a ‘pedal’ jack on the keyboard? If so, just get a cheap sustain pedal (eBay?).

Ok, that makes sense. Since the bass note is a dotted half, I thought I had to actually hold the key down the whole count. I have a few auxillary pedals laying around. Maybe one of them will work as a sustain. Thanks!
