That was a well known and long running joke. It sort of went along the lines of ripped shirt Kirk having augmented strength - sort of like angry Doctor Banner. You tear the shirt, his strength climbs exponentially.
Aaaaahhhh! Puny Klingons! Kirk SMASH!
Mmmm… first 2 seasons Kirk in a ripped shirt…Mmmmmm…
And Picard isn’t a wimp, not really. But he is not from the same mold as Kirk the Action Figure. Picard’s more Ken to Kirk’s GI Joe.
Kirk was the man. He’d sail into orbit, kick a bunch of ass, bang your green women, then skip town when the locals got uppity.
I’m in the “Picard is a wimp” camp. Has he ever gotten laid while going where no man has gone before?
Picard was gettin’ it on all the time - possibly more than Kirk.
I will say that Picard in his bathrobe is not the greatest visual around. And what is IT with him and Dr Crusher? Did they hook up eventually or what? She bugs me. (sorry, that’s another thread).
Y’all must have missed the episode where Picard takes this alternate timeline
There was one episode where the 2 of them had impants stuck in there heads by some paranoid locals to learn the truth about their (the locals) enemies. They escaped and had a kind of mind-meld thingy while they were on the run. It was revealed that she’d been married to Picards best friend, he’d always secretly loved her, she had some feelings too, but they decided not to do anything about it [vomitsmile/]. In the final episode, it’s shown in the future that they had a thing after the main timeline of TNG, and were now an ex couple. Pining as it were.
I saw that one. I was hoping that they would DO something already, finally. Same with Troi and Reicher. Stupid 80s show–they were more daring in the 60s!
And I don’t believe Troi and Worf for a New York minute.
My EYES! (he does have a nice physique, but the Xanadu hair has got to go).
Well, she made Riker shave in that one sucky movie, so I’m right there with ya on the not doin’ Worf thing.
Picard got it on several times. I bet Riker beats them all in that department though.
Picard had his moments. One of my favorites is when he’s on the Klingon home world. Some Klingons jump him and he fights them off. I think that’s the one where he tries to help Worf remove the traitor dishonor to his family.
In Season 1, they tried to portray Picard as a real military commander. Those guys aren’t expected to go on hazardous missions and risk danger. Riker was supposed to do that stuff. But, that made Picard kind of dull in S1. The writers learned he needed to be a man of action.
True. But I think that’s more of the fact that everyone else was really bad. How often do you think that double fist technique would work in real life?
No might about it, Troi said they had two children (Eric Christopher and Shanara).
Oh god, I even remember their names…
Well it kind of depends on what angle you look at it. In the normal storyline they don’t get much past the dating stage, in the episode where Worf jumps around parallel timelines he ends up in one where he and Troi are married and have children, in the future depicted in the show’s finale it was implied Troi and Worf had had some kind of proper relationship and that this was a source of tension between him and Riker (but in that future she was dead so we don’t know the details).
So whether or not you want to believe it in the minds of (some of) the writers it was clearly going on.
Never mind the punching. The worst(best?) fight he ever had was against the Gorn, what with the throwing of the paper-maché rocks and the lighting of the powder gun (why didn’t it blow up in his face?)
Truly hilarious.
There can be only one!
Well obviously you’re forgetting about his two secret weapons: the two-handed back chop, and the over the head leg flip.
Don’t mess wit da Shat.
I believe myth busters actually did that one. It didn’t work for them
That’s Sir Wimp, to you.
