I invite you all to watch this review, and understand why it and its writers are terrible. Even Patrick Stewart is to blame for this hot garbage.
I have to disagree, I loved Star Trek Picard.
This “review” says absolutely nothing of substance. It is simply one not-so-clever derisive comment after another, and none of them provide any real details as to why the show is so allegedly bad. The only thing I came away with is the overriding feeling that Mr. Plinkett is a truly bad critic.
An hour and a half to point out the flaws? It could be done in 14 words:
The show sacrificed story for fan service and left any sign of imagination behind.
It that really a one and a half hour video review? I got one minute in and, no. And I didn’t like Picard as a whole either. I thought the first episode was great, but it was not so good after that.
My condolences
Did we watch the same review? Because they made plenty of legitimate criticisms, from Patrick Stewart being literally bribed into comnig back to do the show on the condition of not wearing a uniform and being able to have Picard act out of character, to the writers being unable to flesh out a story where Humanity has a postive future, to the use of foul language and excessive drinking.
This was more like Stargate SG1 than Star Trek, this ST: Picard is an absolute abomination
This tryhard asshole again? Knowing he dislikes something actually makes me like it more (and I generally already like the things he lamely tries to tear down, already).
Picard isn’t without its flaws and plot holes, but I liked it all the same. Now, I like it more.
Also, his fake voice is just … soooo fucking annoying.
Ironically, the two examples you gave of “legitimate criticisms” are, in my opinion, nonsense. The Captain Picard I remember would never still be in a uniform after almost 25 years. In fact, in the flashback episode that showed him as a cadet and that showed how he was stabbed in the chest, he demonstrated an aggressive and rebellious side to his personality that was very unlike the highly responsible, serious captain of the Enterprise.
In regards to humanity having a positive future, I’ve never believed it does, so I can’t possibly view that as an issue.
Oh, what’s wrong with being bribed to come back and do a show that completely revolves around you? He is not only 90% of the reason people watch it, but the entire streaming network was launched around his show and his character. He’d be a fool not to demand as much as possible.
Strange Trek is better than no Trek.

That’s because Picard was in his 20’s a cadet and it was a flashback episode. The Picard you remember never had a choice because the actor who plays him specifically demanded not to have that as an option, so you’ll never know.

Good stuff, but this isn’t about you, Star Trek is always about the best of humanity, and this aint it.

Is this serious? Him being convinced to do it isn’t the problem the problem stems the show being about what the actor wants rather being driven by the writing, which is very poor.

So you like the Last Jedi?
Foul language and excessive drinking is a legitimate criticism? What in Victorian England or 1950s Levittown? Not to mention I kind of like a less positive future spin for humanity.
In the Trek future, the Universal Translator has a language filter like the Good Place.
Quite a bit, yes.
I enjoyed it. They only thing that could have been better was the acting of the two side characters. Apparently they seem to think that the way to show sympathy to make goo-goo eyes at someone.
Yes, they didn’t need it in TNG so why do they need it in ST:Picard?
Not to mention I kind of like a less positive future spin for humanity.
Great, so like every other Sci Fi show out there. That’s not what ST is about, even DS9 dealt with heavy topics without losing its sense of optimism.
Oh dear
So, what, are you one of those people who believes that the value of a work of fiction is something that can be objectively determined and is the same for every consumer?

What was the little Cardasian named? “We have gained an ally in the war at the cost of one Cardassian office and the honor of one Star Fleet captain”.
Seeing Seven of Nine drinking heavily was a surprise, but hell, after what she has been through I don’t blame her.
