Pierced nipples: do they shrink to their original size?

It’s a rather well-known fact that a pierced nipple shortly becomes larger and, uhh, more pointy than it was in its previous unadorned state.

But if one were to remove one’s nipple piercing for an extended period of time, might we expect the nipple tissue to shrink back to its original size? Or will it remain permanently enlarged regardless of whether the piercing is still in place or not?

(Yes, I now have lopsided nipples: lefty-biggy, righty-tiny. Laugh away. :D)

An obvious alternative path to blissful evenly-sized nipple-hood would be to get the other tit pierced, but I’m looking for a less painful way out.

The nipples I’m familiar with did in fact return to normal size.
.
Aren’t you glad it’s not like a tattoo?

Unfortunately, mine did not return to its former size- it is quite large, after being removed roughly 6-7 years ago.

YMMV, of course, but I suspect that the gauge of the piercing will have some effect. Mine was 12, I believe.

I removed my nipple ring over two years ago and the tip is still larger than the other nipple. Scar tissue. Being a male with small nipples, it is probably less noticeable than it would be on a female.

Because of this, I promised myself I wouldn’t get a tattoo until I am 30.

Hmmmm, this is encouraging to hear. I got mine because I had the world’s smallest and wanted some occasional nipple show-through, dang it. (yeah, I know it’s tacky) But now one ring is being “rejected” and I’m gonna have to have it removed. , :frowning:

It’ll also depend on how long the piercings were in and how much scar tissue developed. Mine were in for about six months by the time I caught on to what “keloids” are. I’ve now got wide nipples. They may look a bit funny, but they’re easy to play with. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the replies, all. Looks like I’ll have to get the other one done to even my chest up. I think I’ll remove my left one before getting the right done.
