I got my navel done and it took so frickin’ long to heal (7 months) I was done with piercing at that point. Anyone know if nipples take as long to heal? I am not really considering getting it done, but i am curious.
It hurt a fair amount, but less than when I got my tongue pierced.
When I had it, my nipple was slightly more sensitive.
[TMI warning] I got one in the left nipple because it was & continues to be slightly less sensitive than the right nipple. [/TMI warning]
Slightly more erogenous.
Stainless steel captive bead ring. This, however, is why I only had the damn thing for a week:
The woman who pierced me had a bit of trouble doing so - mine was the biggest nipple she’d pierced. Hence, she didn’t line up the two ends of the ring quite right; as a result, the bead kept falling out. I got disgusted after a week, took it out, & never got it re-done. I’d suggest getting a barbell for the initial piercing to avoid the screwiness I went through.
I’ve never had an SO with nipple piercings, but I wouldn’t be averse to it.
Yes it hurts to get them, but the endorphin rush is part of the fun. Until the throbbing pain keeps you awake, that is. If you’re female, be prepared to notice how often your sore nipples will hit things inadvertently.
They do make things more sensitive and are great fun to play with. I have (well had, see below) a curved bar with a jewel at one end. It’s recommended that if you have large breasts, stick with bars & not rings. Rings have a tendency to try to push out of the nipple. Men get a bit more choice here.
My SO for the record hated it. And they are hard as hell to put back in if you remove them until things have toughened up, and that takes a number of years. In fact, I had an MRI and surgery done a couple of years ago that necessitated removing them, I couldn’t put them back in so I didn’t. I’m still debating getting them reinserted.
As for my TMI warning, I just figured I’d warn any sensitive soul who managed to wade that far into the thread.
Yeah, they do, but when you get a captive bead ring, the piercer apparently has to make sure the two ends of the “U” are lined up with each other. If one’s a little off, it won’t fit into the hole in the bead quite right - it’ll miss it by a little, causing the bead to come loose.
At least, that’s what happened to me. YMMV.
And you can comment on my nipple size all you want, so long as the comments are entertaining.
I’ve wanted to get mine done forever. I would LOVE for my husband to get one of his pierced. Yeah, we’ll see. I, too, had a really tough time with my navel healing, so that’s the only reason why I haven’t done it. Maybe this fall.
As in, I can’t wear a bra with seams because the pain becomes unbearable after a few hours.
I think I would go into shock if I got one of my nipples pierced.
Still, one of my roommates and the girl across the hall got it done; the girl across the hall took hers out after a week or two, but I’m not sure about my roommate. The girl across the hall took them out because the pain wasn’t worth the pleasure, apparently. However, obviously there are others in this thread for whom it was worth it. In other words, YMMV, and since you can take them out it’s not such a big deal.
If the piercing isn’t deep enough, the body will sometimes try to shove the offending alien object out. It’s not limited to females either - I saw a guy get pierced about 15 years back, and two days later, the ring had worked its way out, leaving a sort of slice arcoss his nipple. Happily, the wound healed OK.
Going back to the OP -
I had both done at the same time about 5 years ago. I almost missed the experince of the first one - the needle went through that easily. The second one hurt like crazy for some reason.
I later took both out as I discovered my body’s fondness for creating keloids - my nipples both started growing sideways along the rings. I took the rings out before my nipples engulfed the rings entirely. Happily, they shrank back a bit and are now merely wide instead of weird.
Sensitivity increased, and stayed increased after I un-pierced them. They’re most definitely one of my “buttons”!!
Jewlery-changing isn’t that common with pierced nipples. What some folks do is change the beads on rings or ends on barbells. You can get a wide range of things to personalize with - I’ve seen plastic beads in every color imaginable, coral, stone, skulls, dice, etc.
I’m curious too, as I’ve always wanted to get mine pierced as well. I’m not worried about the pain or healing factor, but for the women out there:
Can the scar tissue interfere with breastfeeding? I haven’t had kids yet, but plan to someday in the future, and when I do I plan on breastfeeding if possible. Are there any risks involved with this?
SO has one (and only one; apparently it took quite a while to put in): a 16 gauge (I think; could be 14) barbell. I believe she was planning to do the other one too (she doesn’t trust anyone else to do it the way she wants, so she does all of her own piercings), but didn’t want to put up with the pain/soreness again. Must’ve been pretty darn painful, too, 'cause this is a girl that gave herself a christina and a clit piercing.
After a couple Caesars, no question is too personal…
Got 'em? SO got 'em?
I got 'em. Had them for about 10 years.
How much do they hurt to get?
The first one was fine. My piercer is a GOD and he has this great FM radio voice that puts you into a wonderful relaxed state. However, I didn’t have enough time to get in that state for the second one and it HURT! A lot.
(Yes, I got them both done at the same time.)
How do your nipples feel now that you have them, compared to before? Are they more sensitive? Less?
More sensitive. More fun to play with. I’ll refrain from sharing more…
Does it make your nipples more or less erogenous?
IMO, more.
What do you wear in them? Is it as easy to change them as earrings?
I just wear the original piercing hoops. I toyed with replacing them with barbells, but decided on keeping the hoops.
Do you like them in your SO?
It wouldn’t bother me if he had them, but I don’t think they’d suit him.
To add:
My left one was growing out, so I recently removed it. I plan on getting it repierced shortly, once I feel it’s healed enough. This can happen with a lot of piercings. The same happened with my naval piercing, but I decided against redoing it.
They take a long time to heal. Well, at least mine did.
Some guys just don’t “get it”. Oh well.
It looks like you have 4 nipples when wearing a tight tank top or t-shirt.
Oh, and as for XJETGIRLX’s question:
My piercer assured me that it won’t interfere. (I asked even though I don’t plan on having children.)
I’ve got to ask what a christina is, although it’s clearly deeply gynocologic, if not pornographic.
How big across is 16 gauge? Does thicker mean more painful, or just a different look?
Thanks, all, for the comments. Good things to think about. I believe my wife would flip out, but maybe not in a bad way. Then there’s the issue of the yearly trip to the Cape with my in-laws, but I think I can handle keeping the shirt on, or something.
