Fascination, yes. Humor? Even black humor? I just don’t see it. What, exactly, is supposed to be humorous here? That the pimps had little codenames for prostitutes based upon their behavior? That there’s a bizarre yet extant form of organization amongst those who benefit from exploiting other people and exposing them to grave danger on a daily basis? That ignorant, craven, greedy people who can’t find anything better to do with their lives than exploit others would document their crimes is funny? More like pathetic.

You can rent “Pimps Up, Hos Down” at at least the local Hollywood. I don’t know why they say it’s done by “unknown people” - I thought it was done by the people who do the hooker documentaries on HBO. It’s something of a documentary. A lot more about the pimps than the hos, however, so if you’re interested in their side of the story you have to catch the HBO documentaries - I think they’re called “Hookers on the Point” and there’s another one that’s a follow-up. (Er, I’ve had some serious bouts with insomnia in the last five years. Watched a lot of late night TV. Did you know they’re up to Real Sex 31?)
