from which particular short is this cel?

There were 124 animated short films made; good luck with your search. I note that a brief perusal of the synopses show that “Pink Panther in a house” was a popular motif.

Is this a cel that you’ve acquired? If so, congratulations! I bet that looks awesome on your wall!

Given that he’s smoking a cigarette it ***HAS ***to be from one of the films’ animated intros. Even back in the 70s they wouldn’t have had him do this in a Saturday morning cartoon.

Okay, you’ve narrowed it down to the first 92 Pink Panther cartoons, then. Woot!

First, after clicking on your Wiki link, I had no idea those cartoons were that old! I watched them on Saturday morning TV growing up in the early 70s and thought for sure they were new.

Second, I meant an animated short that was actually part of the opening credits for one of the Peter Sellers films. He smokes in those.

I may well be wrong, but the style of the art in that looks more, well, “modern” than the original cartoons.

For comparison, here’s the original cartoon credits from the first movie:

Here’s how he looks in the credits for the (unfortunate) 2006 remake:

My mostly-uneducated guess is that it’s a cel that was created for the collector market, rather than an original cel from a cartoon.

Uh, didn’t he have the cigarette holder in the title card of the cartoons?

Probably not the original run of shorts (60s-70s)

Probably not Pink Panther and Sons ( 80s)

Definatly not The Pink Panther show from the 90s (voiced by Matt “Max Headroom” Frewer)

Nor Pink Panther and Pals (within the last decade)

Perhaps part of a promotional video or a commercial?

Allow me to expand my earlier request: why are you seeking this info? Is this a cel that you’ve acquired?

No, don’t own the cel.

Just puzzled by it’s origin.

Did the latter series of Pink Panther(post the original cartoon shorts) harp back towards the 1950’s? From my vague memeory the original series did. Maybe the cigarette holder does point to it being from the original series? This is nothing more than idle speculation on my part.

How did you come across this, tho? What sparked your interest in the pictures origins? Why is this any more significant to you than any of the other images you might randomly come across in a day?

I like the pink panther. s’all

this particular cel was from no familiar cartoon short, motion picture credits scene, or commercial (Owens Corning).

Well, in that case I recommend that you buy all of the Pink Panther cartoons and watch them with that cel displayed right next to the TV until you find it.

If you need help, I have popcorn but I’m gonna insist that we sit thru all The Ant & The Aardvark cartoons as well; John Byner’s Jackie Mason impression fucking kills me every time!

And didn’t the Ant sound like Dean Martin or something?

Aye, the Ant was John Byner doing Dean Martin.

Amazon Prime has The Pink Panther in their watch instantly catalog.

Don’t forget the Tijuana Toads.

Pink Panther Party at Enola’s place, everyone? What time?

I agree with this. The background is in the style of TV animation from the 80’s/90’s. However, I doubt the Pink Panther would have been shown smoking in a children’s cartoon after the 70’s.
