Pirate Master: The rest of season one

It’s officially canceled.

You can the final 5 episodes online, with a new one coming out every Tuesday. I wish they’d just put them all online at the same time.

Pirate Master Exclusively Online

yeah, it wasn’t cancelled. It was upgraded to Online Exclusive. What an honour.

Is anyone bothering? I just saw today’s episode. I won’t spoil it, but suffice it to say that it sucked as usual. I will continue to watch, though. I have never left a book unfinished (or a label of hair conditioner, for that matter), I will suffer to the end.

I wish I could say that I’m surprised – but I’m not. I’ve seen our own interest fall off markedly, I can barely imagine what’s happened among “normal people.”

At this point, I’m not going to bother with the online episodes. Sic transit glorious piratica.

I TRIED to watch online. . . but the last segment would not load. It got caught in Buffer-land or something. So. . . I would appreciate it if some kind soul who managed to watch the whole episode would let me know who got cut adrift. You can e-mail me with the info at annieclaus@aol.com.
Thanks in advance.

I wish you would. I’m on dial up at home, and have no work internet at all, so I’ll never see the episodes. :frowning:

So – are they still having the two team foot-race challenge? Which team won? Who got black spotted? Who bought the Pardon? Who got cut adrift?

Plus any new twist or entertaining bits, of course.

That’s not too much to ask, is it?

<bats eyes> Pretty please? With sugar on top?

They burned 5 episodes?!?!? Holy crap.

well, by popular demand, here go the spoilers:

The positions of Officers disappeared. Now it is the captain alone.

This meant the Triad was undone.

The Red Team, with both ex-officers (by chance), won the challenge.

Christa (the amazon hottie) got elected captain

The former officers spend every last second of their waking hours trying to control her

Pirate Court is now only for only two black-spotted pirates

This time, it was Kendra and Azhat

Azhat got it, of course. Unanimously. Which was twice as funny after hearing all the confessionals about how certain he was about his great job as a captain and how much everybody loved him.

I confess to have next to zero recollections about the foot race. It was that special.

Thank you!

Yes, thank you. I was planning to watch last night mostly to see how things changed as the number of people diminished, and your spoilers clarified that nicely.

I don’t think I care who actually wins, at this point. Especially given the information in the spoiler box.

Thank you! Many times!

Gee. I wish I’d gotten to see this episode, though, after suffering through the last four weeks.

I may look up the episode, but only to see items 4 and 5 in the spoiler list. Thanks for the recap, Sapo.

I like reading the spoiler much better than watching episodes of this show, myself. It contained as much compelling info as the one hour of TV provided.

Oh, “we” do? That certainly comes as news to “us.” “We” know that some people don’t care for nicknames on the grounds that they can create confusion, however, if anyone is confused as to who “Probst Lite” is referring to…

Exactly why I was so sad that TWOP abandoned ship (heh) on the show.

What a good man, to fall on the sword for us all. Thank you!

Some additional notes that Sapo omitted.

There were no officers selected.

Captain got all the money, $50,000. She still divided it evenly between all the red crew.

Jay plotted with Christa to buy the royal pardon off Kendra for $10,000, rather than giving her entire share outright.

Christa polled the crew on who should get blackspotted. No surprise, Kendra and Assmouth were on top. The latter was misguided enough not to bid on the the royal pardon.

The royal pardon has been rendered obsolete.

And that’s pretty much it. The video crapped out on me for the last part with the pirate court, so I don’t know whether Assmouth had any idiotic things to say before being cut adrift.

Thanks, TE. Very important your #2 that I had forgotten.

Also your #5

Here is some additional info now that I have more time:

Christa had a serious struggle when named captain and given the full $50K loot. $50K was her goal for the game and she had the chance of keeping it all and even if the crew had mutinied, she would have gotten what she wanted out of the game. We were not shown the mental process that led her to it, but in the end, she decided to split the loot in equal shares for her crew.

Jay talked Christa into telling Kendra that instead of giving her her share at the moment, she would give her $2500 instead and buy the pardon for $10K. The idea was, of course, that she wouldn’t buy the pardon and Kendra would be booted with no money.

Christa ended up surprising the whole bunch by actually bidding $10K for the pardon. It is believed that the only other bid was Louie’s for $1.

The foot race is slowly coming back to me, although I have it all mixed up with the previous one, as I saw both episodes together. The salient point is that Louie was the one that delayed the Black Team by not being able to unlock himself out of the starting line. It was stupid enough to look as deliberate sabotage, but he never bragged about it afterwards in the confessionals, so it might have been actual incompetence.

There was a stair case of 67 steps they had to count, substract one and divide by a number to get the number of the step where their next clue was. A welcome change from previous races is that the number was different for both crews. One had 3 and the other 22. This meant that they could just go to where the other team was.

The last stage consisted of counting steps and the Black Crew ended up in a spot about 30 steps away from the Red Crew. Make of it what you want.

When Christa polled the crew, Everybody voted for Az and Kendra. Even Az and Kendra voted for each other, of course.

The previews for next week were of Jay and Ben talking about how they had to do anything to keep Christa as captain. They clearly believe they can manipulate her to their ends. Surprising since she already backed from one of their plans.

The episodes could use some Tivoing to compress them to 15 minutes or so. The innertube interface and streaming are really sucky. It doesn’t load the whole thing to memory, so every time you skip or rewind, it has to rebuffer, and if your bandwidth is not good, you watch a slideshow, instead of being able to pause and wait for it to load. I hate it.

I will be glad to provide the rest of the Cliff Notes for the remainder of the season, but woe to you who depend on the memory of someone like me. Here is hoping that **Terminus Est ** will also continue to watch and complete my reports.

Well, I can’t promise anything, but I’ll contribute anything I notice from the episodes I do watch.

Since I refuse to be defeated by a computer, I finally got to watch the last part by switching to MSIE.
Assmouth didn’t say anything memorable when he was cut adrift. He also dropped the idiotic accent.

Kendra, on the other hand, had an idiotic poem that she wrote down and read to the pirate court.
I just finished watching the new episode.
Even though Christa kept her word, it was still a screw job.

Depending on how the game is going, any player can buy the pardon, be safe for a week, then sell it and make back some of the money (maybe even turn a profit). That doesn’t apply this week, but everyone knew that before they bid. Kendra owned the pardon. If she was due an equal share of the treasure from this hunt, then she should get it, and whatever she can get for selling the pardon.

What if she’d said to Christa “I’ll tell you what; why don’t you pay me $12,000 now, and bid $500 on the pardon?”

(As it turned out, she lost $1. With Christa trying to explain how fair she was being, I wonder if Kendra realizes that it doesn’t add up.)

The black spots and pirate’s court exactly showed one of the biggest problems with the show. “Kendra deserves to be up there because she’s the weakest.” “Azmyth deserves to be up there because he’s the strongest.” Make up your minds, guys; is there a coherent strategy to this game or not?

Jay is an asshole.
I’ll keep watching, gotta see my ship; and I’ll post recaps if no one beats me to it.

Please let me know when it is ok to drop the spoiler boxes

About Kendra’s poem, she said that she had been there so many times that she didn’t know what to say anymore. Hence the poem for variety’s sake

Any time is good. It’s just a ghost of a show now, and anyone who wants to see it can.
