Oh, I didn’t say the Bull Terrier doesn’t have a police record. Daughter’s boyfriend, Boy (generally keep names simple around here, until, for instance, Quetzalcoatl and Huitzilopochtli earned their new names), managed to get his finger bit bad enough to need stitches. Doctors are required to report these things in some jurisdictions.
In addition to Chelsea Watson (the dead boys sister) saying there were 5 pit bulls that killed her brother this weekend, - on this media website two other - one who lives next door - also confirm 5 pit bulls:
Whitney “I live next door they are pits as if the breed mattered, and there is no leash law here dogs are not required to be in a fence but the dogs never run free, there are 5 adult dogs”
Sheila : " Ok first of all I know the family, yes it was Pits and it was 5 not 3 and they were in a fence."
The police very well may have only seen & confiscated 3 pit bulls. This is very common after a fatal pit bull attack - the owners will hide the pit bulls prior to 911 arrival.
Chelsea - the dead boys sister - on her Facebook page also says the 5 pit bulls belonged to her dead “brothers brother”. That, in fact, would make it a family dog…regardless if he lived in that house or in another house, or on the dark side of the moon.
PS you logic is wrong on banning cars - we do not ban all cars, just those with deadly defects. Google Chevy Corvair + Ralph Nadar for starts.
Just because you can’t have a “hard on” for any cause, doesn’t mean that Breed Specific Legislation can’t likewise arise as needed.
Dogs are BRED to fulfill a specific need. A pointer points at game birds, a retriever retrieves, a bloodhound sniffs and tracks, a border collie herds, a greyhound runs, and a PIT BULL KILLS!! . Dogs do what they are bred to do. That’s why there are different breeds.
Every pit bull apologist that refuses to believe the above correlation, is in denial.
There is nothing any more defective about a pit bulls brain,
than there is in a greyhounds brain when it runs without being taught to do so.
than there is in a pointers brain when it points without being taught to do so.
than there is in a blood hounds brain when it sniffs without being taught to do so.
than there is in a collies brain when it herds without being taught to do so.
than there is in a retrievers brain when it retrieves without being taught to do so.
However, there is a clear and present defect in a pit bull apologists brain, when it refuses to comprehend the above.
Pit bulls were designed and bred specifically, as their name implies, to fight bulls in a pit, and later against other pit bulls.
Pit bulls do not, and can not, ascertain that a human is any less a target than another pit bull, steer, bird, or sea creature (ask Astronaut Mark Kelly - there is a great video of him struggling with his pit bull on a beach as it slaughters a seal - as his teen daughters cry) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUyoU-juHTk
Let me change just one word in your post, and see if you see the light:
"Your story on story will never substitute for scientific proof that pointers are radically different from all other domestic dogs in how their brains work, causing them to behave in ways that are virtually unknown in other dogs.
OK, that does it. Someday I’ll be in a position to get a dog. Mutts that include at least some pibble are over-represented in shelters around here, so chances are likely that even without trying, I’ll wind up with a part-pibble.
I’m thinking, maybe I’m gonna name it “Cougar,” in honor of this thread.
St. Bernards were bred for rescuing people, right? And beagles were trained to hunt small game? Then why would a St. Bernard/Beagle mix attack two adult humans? Because the dog had been abused and those adult humans who took him in were not aware of this!
That was a few years ago and my SO is still afraid of dogs.
In fact, and in absolute contrast to what the NCRC National Canine Research Foundation (funded and managed by the pit bull lobbyists) founder, Karen DeLise claimed in her book “the Pit Bull Placebo” , the police did not just ride into town with both guns blazing at anything that resembled a pit bull.
The police found the pit bull owner hiding under a car, while her land shark was performing a multiple amputation on her, and in fact police shot the dog to save the pit bull owner. Due to her age, (reference the elderly lady who died days after 1 of 4 fatal pit bull maulings last week), she may die, and very likely would have died, had the police not shot her dog. But you won’t read about that in any NCRC blog.
PS - not that anybody is counting, but a policeman was killed yesterday by pit bulls where he was staying and was familiar with.

“Note: Although some level of dog aggression is characteristic of this breed, handlers will be expected to comply with UKC policy regarding dog temperament at UKC events.”
(but when Zeus & Brutus get back home, Helter Skelter is acceptable).
Quoting the same link: “APBTs make excellent family companions and have always been noted for their love of children. Because most APBTs exhibit some level of dog aggression and because of its powerful physique, the APBT requires an owner who will carefully socialize and obedience train the dog. The breed’s natural agility makes it one of the most capable canine climbers so good fencing is a must for this breed. The APBT is not the best choice for a guard dog since they are extremely friendly, even with strangers. Aggressive behavior toward humans is uncharacteristic of the breed and highly undesirable.”
That flies right in the face of what even Pro Pit Bull group BADRAP finally admitted via their Facebook page:
on May 20 @ 9:00am PST, BADRAP made the following proclamation:
It’s Dog Bite Prevention Week. Did you know that there was never such thing as a ‘Nanny’s Dog’? This term was a recent invention created to describe the myriad of vintage photos of children enjoying their family pit bulls. While the intention behind the term was innocent, using it may **mislead parents into being careless with their children around their family dog - A recipe for dog bites! **
Lynne Smith comments on that pro pit facebook: Human aggression or the lack thereof was never a consideration in breeding a fighting dog. As a result, there were many human aggressive fighting dogs, and they were not culled if they were good fighters. I applaud BAD RAP for trying to clear up the Nanny Dog myth. I only wish they went further and explained that traditionally man-biters were not culled, and that fighting dogs were bred to downplay their body language.
Why do you always have to exaggerate? It was one arm and part of the other.
Besides, how do we know this was a pure-bred pit bull? Even if it was, there are many lovable examples of the breed. And there are probably cases like this involving chihuahuas and Cavalier King Charles spaniels every day that go unreported in the media.
Just this morning I risked my life patting my Labrador retriever on the head. I only hope her ear cartilage wasn’t permanently damaged.
Who the fuck are you and why should I give a shit what you have to say? Are you not aware that cougar has been playing this game for over 23 pages spanning at least two threads on the breed?
She does seem singularly focused on this topic. Possibly in need of a proper hobby.
That being said, I’m off to help more vicious, killer dogs find permanent homes with loving local families. I love my work in pit bull rescue. Oh, and after working with hundreds of homeless pit bulls with largely unknown backgrounds…not one single bite.
