Or else, if you are just lazily assuming that “underpaid”—which goodness knows most teachers are—automatically equates to “unmotivated slacker drudge with no important responsibilities”, then congratulations on successfully embodying, with a single sentence, every stereotype of ignorant boorish conservatives who can’t understand any measure of value or merit except wealth.

Honestly, I think he lost his cool, realizing that he’d misjudged that thread and that it had passed him by, and petulantly lashed out. It’s possible that if he were a little calmer his insults wouldn’t be so ridiculously inept.

Oh, I have no idea, I know absolutely nothing about Martin_Hyde’s personal life including his alcohol consumption habits, if any.
But whenever I see a Doper whose posts I have sometimes found informative or well-argued making a complete loutish spectacle of themselves in the Pit, I always hope that they’re just drunk off their ass and have no real idea what they’re even saying. I trust that they would extend the same charitable courtesy to me.

Nah, I’ve seen his posts for years, he strikes me as unimpressive and highly likely to have gone into teaching for the same reason most people go into a low wage job–lack of ability to do anything more important or rewarding.
I made no judgement on the thread, which had not even developed past one post when you had your little baby temper tantrum–other people chimed in and started an interesting discussion, which again–had nothing to do with your OP. I had attempted to offer you that same life raft and you got pissy about it because it was being offered by a “disliked poster”, in the meantime the other hijacks that then went on to be the meat of the thread you were fine with because you weren’t trying to stir up nonsense.
My judgement was on the OP, which was not well written to promote debate (and as evidence of that, the debate that emerged does not actually relate to the “controversy” you driveled on about for 600+ meandering, ill-thought out words.)

I have a lot more experience with teachers and educators than Kimstu, I would wager. It is unfortunately the case that the mythologized idea of teachers he has does not match reality. These are mostly people who couldn’t get real degrees in college and who wanted a job with summers off.
I have quite a lot of experience with teachers and educators too, including being married to one, and what you present is the mythologized idea of teachers as lazy slackers often presented by the shallow, the ignorant and the generally shitty looking for cheap excuses to denigrate them.
But then “LHOD is a teacher and teachers are all lazy and incompetent and therefore I have made up an excuse to handwave away their points” is exactly the sort of disingenuous argument that has earned you this lengthy Pit thread.
