I’m sure that he will be prosecuted and pay the price for his mean and thoughtless deed.
Although the news article stated that bird is expected to survive, I wonder. IANA ornithologist or ophthatmologist, but I think that a partially blind osprey might have a difficult time catching fish.
What isn’t mentioned is what his teammates were doing at the time. This guy threw several balls at the osprey before hitting it. Did no one tell him to stop? Were people egging him on, or just standing around laughing like a bunch of slack-jawed locals? Seems like there must have been even more asshatery going on at the time.
This guy calls himself a pitcher, and he can’t even hit a big fucking bird on the first try? Man, that’s sad. Though not as pathetic as doing it in the first place…
It doesn’t say what his teamates were doing before the incident, but it does say that they rushed to “assist” the bird after it fell. Hopefylly he was called an idiot by one of them.
It’s not immediately clear to me that being transferred from one Class A team to another really counts as a “demotion”, but as I’m not intimately familiar with the Cubs’ minor league structure there may be more to it. (Where can you go below single-A, anyway?)
It sounds to me a bit like a “Get this guy out of town - somewhere, anywhere,” move.
Not only that, but when he does manage to connect, he doesn’t even kill the bird? And this guy wants to be a major league pitcher?? Better work on that arm, buddy.
well, He kind of puts his arm across his face to protect from punches and kicks, but its not very effective against tiger uppercuts or fireballs.
ok, enough of the Street Fighter hijacks
He’s cowering because he got caught and folks are pissed at him. I’m sure he knows now that this can draw the ire of the populace, but that still doesn’t count as remorse.
‘Sorry that you did it’ does not equal ‘sorry that you must now face consequences’!
