About 8 years ago, I was driving down the road when the truck in front of me stopped. I stopped. He then put his truck in reverse without looking and backed into me. No one was hurt but my car was totalled. The guy driving the truck was a cop. He initially admitted that he backed into me, but when his buddies arrived he changed his story. They took 3 weeks to do their “investigation” which showed, of course, that I was at fault. I fought it and won, but it showed me who cops are.
Now I won’t talk to police. I turn down clients who I know are officers. When police officers are going to be at events for my children’s activities (boy scouts) we will skip the event.
From time to time, I worry that I am over generalizing and I shouldn’t be prejudiced based upon someone’s profession.

I was surprised at how negatively and strongly he reacted to my suggestion. I see an awful lot of people killed by cops, and i would have hoped that even a cop recognizes there’s a problem with that.
That’s because we aren’t “people” to him. We are civilians and as such are protentional threats until properly controlled. To him, only “blue” lives matter, not the people who are paying his salary.
In his tiny mind, the people paying his salary are the Powers That Be. That’s why he has to serve and protect them. Protect them from the public, presumably.
It’s the same with his concept of law. He thinks that laws are made by the powerful and wealthy in order to control the unruly peasants, and those are the laws he is enforcing.
I do find it humorous that those who worship/idolize the state are so distrustful of the agents of the state tasked with enforcement. Laws and regulations aren’t going to enforce themselves. What is it about the left’s willful blindness to the reality of human nature?

Since we are not LEO, we do not “understand” what he has to go through. He and his fellow LEOs are alone in this fight, and no one understands them, gosh-dammit! Every day they’re out there, fighting for their survival. Us mere “civilians” don’t have a clue…

Part of the problem with law enforcement is that they are such snowflakes. Any criticism or anything that even vaguely implies criticism, feels like an existential attack to them.
The problem seems to be the people we pick to enforce them and the law enforcement culture. You can enforce laws without so much death. Not to mention the bigotry seeming running rampant in police departments throughout the country. Maybe conservative panic is the problem.
Does this count include those officers who “accidentally” shot themselves while cleaning their weapons?
