IIRC, there was. Shoulder back. Thought I saw that testified to during the trial.
Google “Trayvon Martin clenched fists”. Bunch of references arise. If Martin pressed his hand against Z’s bloody broken nose, and his fists clenched when he died, how then would the rain have washed the blood of his inner hands?
Only TM’s DNA was found on his hoody. This article of clothing was tested by the state’s DNA expert Anthony Gorgone.
The sweatshirt that TM was wearing under his hoody was tested. CNN trial blog cite.
The hoody and the sweatshirt were both improperly stored wet in a plastic bags. As a result DNA evidence may have degraded.
Testing of stains on GZ’s jacket found a mixture of GZ and TM’s DNA on two stains - one on the front of GZ’s jacket and one on the right cuff.
The trial testimony refers to DNA testing of stains on various articles of clothing. There was not testimony confirming that those stains were tested and found to be blood.
TL; DR version:
So… Martin’s DNA was found in two stains on GZ’s jacket. GZ’s DNA was found on TM’s sweatshirt. GZ’s DNA was not found on TM’s hoody which, just like the sweatshirt, was mishandled.
Ok. I remembered wrong.
Look at the publicly released photo of TM’s dead body at the scene. His right hand is clearly visible and his fist is not clenched. His left hand is obscured in that photo.
Lay out of the ground like that for 15 minutes under a lawn sprinkler and see how dry the palm of your hand stays. Go ahead and clench your left fist for full effect.
The mere wetness doesn’t really mean all that much. Even wet blood clots. And clotted blood is more difficult to remove. More importantly, to remove to such a degree that no trace remains. We’re not talking about a smear of blood, simply a trace left in the creases of the hand, or the fingernails.
Now, mind: I find Zimmerman to be morally responsible, given the preponderance of evidence. Had I been sworn to jury duty, and given the instructions the jury was given, I would almost certainly have felt compelled to vote for acquittal. Such is the law, and the law is the handjob of justice.
Not to mention, there was no blood found on the cuffs of Trayvon’s hoody, either.
