I saw it on an aggregated Twitter feed from local FL reporters…let me see if I can dig it up again.
It was back-of-the-napkin calculation by a couple of lawyers that were on the panel tweeting about this. They did it from an estimate of the number of hours that the two lawyers must have spent on the case ($400/hr regular fee for one and $350 for the other) plus all the other huge expenses incurred. Think about it - you have NO idea just how much time these guys spent on the case behind the scenes. The countless depositions, going through the mountains of discovery evidence, etc. etc.

Sure I do. I know Mark O’Mara from his family law practice (though not well.) Thing is, all the other huge expenses incurred will be paid by me as a taxpayer of the State of Florida.
How exactly? All the time that O’Mara and West spent taking those deposition and going through discovery - you think the state was paying them to do it?

By “all the other huge expense incurred” I assumed you were talking about litigation costs, which will be paid by the state because Zimmerman is the prevailing party.

No I meant all the incidentals. All the experts that needed to be paid for their work (and quite a few that didn’t get to testify), paying the interns, paint the transportation/lodging costs, etc. etc. I can easily see $1M price tag or more.

Even so, this is a glorious moment. A Florida jury has affirmed our right to use deadly force to defend ourselves from feral proto-humans, and, having twice been the victim of black street violence, I fervently hope there will be yet another wave of Euro-Americans flooding the gun stores to buy the weaponry and munitions needed to deal with the Trayvon Martins and Rodney Kings of our decaying and disintegrating nation.
The problem is not white racism.
The problem is black lawlessness and violence.

Don’t know what board you’re on but out of curiosity I visited glock_talk (remove the underscore) and looked at the Zimmerman reaction thread and it reads rather differently.
All that stuff goes under “litigation costs”. Basically, it’s everything except attorney fees and office overhead. The interns don’t, but they’re all volunteers.
George Zimmerman was justified in using deadly force. You can say all you want about George Zimmerman being an asshole (who mentors underpriveleged black kids) but ultimately, it was Trayvon Martin’s actions that lead to his own death. People should grow up and look at the facts of the case. It was clear that George Zimmerman feared for his life at the time of the beating.
As a total outsider, non-caucasian, non-American, and liberal but not racked with white guilt, I can state this without fear that any charges of racism can stick.
