I assume you want the borders on both sides of your country patrolled, and all the coasts. Good luck with that.

You’re telling me that illegal immigrants get to vote? Holy shit. I thought only people who could prove they were citizens got to vote. Not even permanent residents get to vote here, IIRC (and my husband and I are going through the residency process right now, so I think I know what I’m talking about).
From what I’ve read, LEGAL Hispanic immigrants tend to vote Republican, not Democratic, if we’re talking about Mexican border patrols.
Of course, I would expect Thank Ye Sai knowing what he’s talking about to be about as likely as my being the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, so who the fuck knows.
Charles the King, our Lord and Sovereign,
Full seven years hath sojourned in Spain,
Conquered the land, and won the western main,
Now no fortress against him doth remain,
No city walls are left for him to gain,
Save Sarraguce, that sits on high mountain.
Marsile its King, who feareth not God’s name,
Mahumet’s man, he invokes Apollin’s aid,
Nor wards off ills that shall to him attain.
You do realize that the economy of a lot of regions is dependent on illegal immigrants, right? Better make it so we don’t depend on them before you try to stop 'em from moving in.
So far, there have not been any huge screwups or running gun battles. We’ve just had a few local yahoos tripping alarms, causing the Border Patrol to waste their time on false alarms. Still, even if everything somehow goes perfectly, do you really think a few people with lawn chairs are doing a thing to make any obrder secure? We have thousands of miles of border. Anyone who is determined to get across can just have a look at where the “heroes” are, and take a detour around them.
Besides, terrorists don’t walk across and then infiltrate the ranks of fruit pickers, gardeners, and household help.
Likewise, these “undocumenteds” don’t skip back and forth just to vote in our elections. If we were to go down the slope of election shenanigans, we better round up all those dead guys too. There have been times in the past, when dead people voted too, and voted more than once (Boss Twead and Tamany Hall). Damn those librul dead guys. :rolleyes:
King Marsilies he lay at Sarraguce,
Went he his way into an orchard cool;
There on a throne he sate, of marble blue,
Round him his men, full twenty thousand, stood.
Called he forth then his counts, also his dukes:
“My Lords, give ear to our impending doom:
That Emperour, Charles of France the Douce,
Into this land is come, us to confuse.
I have no host in battle him to prove,
Nor have I strength his forces to undo.
Counsel me then, ye that are wise and true;
Can ye ward off this present death and dule?”
What word to say no pagan of them knew,
Save Blancandrin, of th’ Castle of Val Funde.
We’ve got a town here where the mayor has dropped all pretense and is inviting hordes of Guyanese here to try and save his town. The town is out of money & the State has told them, no more, until you make good. So he’s trying to do his best…and there are Guyanese neighborhoods springing up all over the place. The town would be dead already without them.
First, the OP is a tool. I want to be clear on that (and I think that we can all agree). However, here is a little information that you may find interesting. Here is Washington State, we have the so called “motor voter” law (or program, I am not sure which). The basic deal is that you can register to vote when you are getting your drivers license. As far as I know, you are not required to prove that you are a citizen when getting your license and when registering the folks at the DOL are either prohibited from asking, or just don’t. So, at least in my fair state illegals can, and do vote.
I’ve just got to say, speaking as the son of Guyanese immigrants, and a NYC native…this guy must be pretty fucking desperate. What sort of industry do they have now? Sitting on the front steps of apartment buildings drinking rum for fun and profit? Domino-only casinos? The production of horrible, atonal, reggae music?
First, a disclosure: I have not looked up the specific act and read it. However, here is what I can tell you: When I went to get my driver’s license, I was offered to register to vote and at no time was asked if I was a citizen. I also had the opportunity to see several folks in front of me go through the same process. Possibly we can dismiss this as a strange anecdotal anomaly.
However, as you may know, my state suffered through a very close Governor’s race of late. This is still being fought out in the courts. One of the many points that the opposition has repeatedly brought up is the so-called motor voter act and the fact that non-citizens may register to vote and are not required to prove citizenship.
As I have time, if someone does not beat me to it, I will try to find the actual act on line and see if this is factually correct. That being said, my prior post was very careful in not stating things as fact that I was not 100% sure of and so I am left wondering just what contribution it is that you think you were making with your post, and more specifically what your general problem is.
