Pitting Traitorous Black Male Trump Supporters

I didn’t say that white nationalism is a fringe issue. I said that the number of people who voted for Trump because they support white nationalism is tiny.

That Trump panders to them is a huge problem. That many people vote for him despite his pandering to them is also a huge problem.

But it also means that people are voting for Trump despite this, not because of it.

People voting for Trump because they support white nationalism are unreachable.

People voting for Trump because of inflation or immigration are not.

This paragraph is literally exactly what I was saying. I was responding to Der Trihs and his insistence that all Trump voters are Nazis who are motivated by a desire to harm black people.

The desire to harm most people. Not just black people.

Yes, that’s a problem.

Do you throw your hands in the air and say “well, I guess it’s gonna come to civil war, so we’ll eventually just kill or reeducate all these people motivated by unreal things”?

Or do you figure out a way to reach them anyways?

Nobody has ever managed to actually do that on a meaningful scale.

The trick is not to convert the MAGAs. That is a lost cause.
The trick is to motivate the 2/3 that didn’t vote for him to come out and vote in sufficient numbers.

Exactly.

Blaming the voters is a worthless strategy. The only blame goes to the Democratic Party.

Agree.

It’s safe to assume the vast majority of white nationalists voted for Trump. But it’s ridiculous to assume most of the people who voted for Trump are white nationalists.

Not every Trump voter is a MAGA hardliner. Not this time around, when he crushed us in the popular vote.

Multiple states went for Trump while voting to enshrine abortion rights, or to elect Democratic governors and senators in statewide races.

Like you, I am shocked by this fact; I thought that especially after Jan 6, Trump would be rejected by everyone except the most rabid of MAGA folks. But that’s not what happened, and now I must reckon with that and adjust my understanding of the situation.

And so it starts:

Racist text messages are targeting Black Americans across the country, telling them they’ve been selected to be enslaved and forced to pick cotton on a plantation. Screenshots of the widespread messages, signed off by someone claiming to be a supporter of President-elect Donald Trump, are being reported to authorities and posted on social media sites.

“Congratulations! you have been selected to pick cotton at the nearest plantation,” reads one version of the messages. “Please be prepared to leave your home November 24, 2024 you will be picked up at 8am sharp in our white van. Also you will sit with Group C Have a nice day. Sincerely, A TRUMP SUPPORTER.”

Gee, in German one might almost call them Untermensch. Or do you mean like all those counterrevolutionary saboteurs who were rounded up and sent to the gulags?

What starts? Trolling? That’s been going on for ages.

Mass text messages to black people to go back to the plantation has been happening all along?

I missed that one. Weirdly they didn’t do that before the election that I am aware of.

What?

This thread is about traitorous black males who voted for Trump.

Trolls are nothing new but this is different since apparently it is a mass text message. That’s new to me for something so overtly racist and sent to the target of the racism. And the Trump supporters didn’t do this before the election. So, leopards eating faces it looks like. A hint at the future black people can look forward to (not a good one).

It might have been sent by a Trump supporter, or it might have been sent by someone disgusted with

…trying to…

Obviously this is what would be preferable, but we knew that voters’ feelings were based on lies on (social) media for at least the last couple years and no one has thought of a good way to combat it.

Pointing out the lies is, apparently, “telling people they’re dumb”, so that’s off the table.

Meanwhile, offering policy solutions is what the losers in this election did.

Well, they didn’t start out that way, nor did ol’ Adolf. But it only took just over a year between his taking power and the night of the long knives. I realize that it’s become a cliché to compare people to Hitler, but Trump has made a lot of statements that track closely.

True, but when people say that Trump is like the Nazis or like Hitler, they aren’t saying that his voters are like the 30% of Germans who ended up supporting the Nazis in Weimar Germany; they’re saying that his supporters are like people who support Hitler today, when they know what he led to.

If you knew what kind of a man Trump is and what policies he has pushed the first time and wants now, and you still voted for him or didn’t vote for Harris, you’re at the least willfully uninformed. And that’s that’s being polite. Traitor? Maybe to America. And I won’t sit here say that America is wonderful, but it does deserve much better than Trump.
