So, last weekend I went to a Civil War era reenactment ball which was just amazing. There was contra dancing, waltzing, polka, the Grand March, and a severely cool gallop.
This has made me realize that the once every month or two dancing I currently do is just not enough, so I’m going to start heading out to the weekly contra dances around Pittsburgh.
What do you care that I’m going dancing? Well, I’m offering an open invite to anyone who wants to go. You can meet me there, I can give you a ride, whatever. You don’t need a partner to go, you don’t need to make sure that there are an even amount of guys and girls, and you don’t even need to be able to dance.
I will be going this friday and most fridays from then on. Anyone else interested in learning some contra dancing and having a great time doing so? Also, anyone know of a pittsburgh group that runs dances on saturdays?
If you have any questions about contra, waltzing, dressing in civil war attire, or why you must be brave when doing a gallop, feel free to ask. If you want to go and need a ride or what have you, let me know.
