The consensus on the origin of the documentation revealed (and yet to be revealed) has been that it arose through the bizarre desire of the perpetrators to create, keep, and trade “trophies”.
Disgusting enough, but consider the following:
What if the plethora of visual documentation arises from a calculated component of the pressure involved.
In other words, because the arena here was sexual degredation, where historically the victims resist coming forward later EVEN TO PUNISH THEIR ABUSERS because they are so ashamed.
Now, the interrogator comes to the subject AFTER the rape, and has the picturesd of the rape with which to bargain.
After all, it is one thing to threaten that yesterday’s rape will be repeated tomorrow. That’s just hitting the replay button.
It’s quite another to say that the pictures of your rape are available to me to spread anywhere and anytime I wish.
The debate:
If this is the case, ie., if the abuses were not only part of the instructions given by the intel people, but so were the photographic documentations, does it impact the judgement we should have about the whole scandal?
