I’m just gonna take my chances with Pizza Pit, though I have no idea what it is.
Huh, apparently there is some current rivalry between Papa John’s and DiGiorno. I only googled it because I couldn’t figure out why a random frozen pizza is up against a random pizza chain in this poll. How does Pizza Pit fit in?
Your link doesn’t seem to work. Try this: Mandatory - Laugh. Learn. Do Some Good.
That’s the one, thanks! ETA: Ah, yes, I think it’s because on my iPad, I get text-style quotes (opening and closing instead of the parallel ones) instead that don’t parse in URLs. This seems to be the case with the newest OS— I don’t remember having the problem before. I keep forgetting that in the newest version of the board I can skip the quotes around the URL tag.
‘‘It’s all cheese. Where’s the tomato sauce? This
ain’t a pizza, it’s a grilled cheese sandwich.’’ - mobster on the Rockford Files
None of the above. Rizzos, if it’s still there (suburban Philly).
I picked That’s Amore because, what a fun song. I didn’t realize" Pizza Pit" is Pizza Hut (though I wouldn’t have picked it anyway). Papa John’s is inedible to me and I forgot that Digiorno’s has these yummy things called Artisan Melts. For cheap, tasty chain pizza I prefer Hungry Howie’s.
If Pizza Pit is actually Pizza Hut, then I absolutely will vote for it against the other options.
I’ve never had DiGiorno’s or Papa John’s. I find Pizza Hut/Pit edible but it would only be my “preference” if no other options were available. I voted Amore.
Pizza Pit is not Pizza Hut. Pizza Pit seems to be a local chain, with stores only in Wisconsin (plus a couple in Iowa). I cannot speak to its quality. Pizza Hut is a nationwide chain. I find it middle-of-the-road as chain pizzas go.
I never cared for Papa John’s even before the political dust-up, and Digiorno’s is not all it’s cracked up to be. So I have to choose the song by default, I suppose.
I voted for Harry Warren.
The iron rule of pizza is that the quality of the pizza is inversely proportional to the number of restaurants in a chain (frozen pizza only aspires to mediocrity and rarely reaches it).
There are two local places I really like and when I want a pizza I’ll order from one of them. DiGiorno’s is pretty good for a frozen pizza but I wouldn’t say I “prefer” it even though I’ve had it from time to time, I prefer to simply order out from one of the two local places. I’ve never heard of Pizza Pit. I never really went to Papa John’s that often, maybe twice in my life. I never found it that good. I’ve never been back since John Schnatter’s comments on health care and I don’t think I’m missing out on that much.
Never had any of those.
A poll featuring a meh national brand, a meh frozen brand, and a ridiculously small local chain (on an international board) is guaranteed to push the poll into “none of the above”. And look, that’s what happened.
So, yeah, Dean Martin is the runaway winner.
I went ahead and picked DiGiornos from that small list of choices, but what I actually do these days is just cook pizza. Formerly I was doing pretty well to make pizza that was about as tasty as frozen self-rising pizza for about the same cash outlay, plus my labor. But it was fun and interesting. Now my techniques are such that I can definitely produce pizza better than Papa John’s, though not as good as you could get at a greasy hole in the wall in Chicago. But it’s cheaper to produce than to go out and buy either of those, and again an interesting hobby.
Mea Culpa.
I meant Pizza Hut when I typed Pizza Pit.
FWIW, I prefer the first, and original Rocky Rococo’s.
Wegmans
That’s an interesting choice for a poll; one national chain versus a regional chain versus a supermarket frozen brand. But if that’s the choice, I’d eat none of the above.
Too late.
We who live in the epicentre of excellent pizza don’t have to go to no steenkin’ CHAIN restaurants for our pizzas!
… and as a consequence of that, I’ve never heard of , let alone eaten at, any of the places listed on your poll (unless Pizza Pit is intended to be a contemptuously misrepresented version of Pizza Hut or something).
ETA: and i see such is indeed the case. I’ve eaten at Pizza HUT, yes. If Joe’s in Greenwich Village is a 10, Pizza Hut might earn a 1.7 if you ordered personal pan pizza and they were having a good day.
Of National Chain “Fast Food” Pizza places, I like Dominos best. It used to be Pizza Hut but their quality dropped a lot in the last decade or so. The best Pizza period is one of any number of local places. In Northern NJ you can knock on a random door and they will sell you Pizza. They are everywhere. I have two around the corner of my house alone and almost all of them make passable pizza and some make great pizza.
As a aside, when I read the title of this thread it made me wish a Pizza Poll was real thing. I don’t know exactly what it would be but I would want one.
ETA: even with all of the pizza places I will sometimes order from chains because I specifically want the pizza from the chain. They each have a unique taste you sometimes want or side dishes you crave (like how I LOVE Dominos plain chicken wings) .
