I’m looking for locations in CA to take the test for the HSC, either here in Monterey, or in Yolo/Sac counties.
Is there a database or list somewhere anyone knows of of locations?

Any sporting goods store that sells guns should be able and set up to give the test. I did mine at Turner’s. Took all of 15 minutes.
I found mine through the NRA when I took it years ago. Here’s a list of all of the sponsored classes in California. Many gun dealers also hold courses; here is a list from the State of those approved (there’s a link on there, but I linked to the whole page as it has useful information on it.)
As a follow-up, which I can’t seem to find on **Cowgirl’**s cite: I have a BFSC. Does that mean I don’t have to get a HSC? It’s been a few years since I last purchased a new handgun.
It seems that you do - I followed the FAQ further down the page. You know, I haven’t bought a handgun in years, and find it a little ridiculous that I would have to jump through all of these hoops - never mind that I once held a concealed weapon permit (although now expired), a license to sell firearms, and I’ve had a valid hunting license in this state for years. Miserable state.
Not that I really need another handgun…but that blows anyway. Oh, well. The test is a snap.
Thanks for the links. Heres hoping I get this little hoop over with so I can go jump though a waiting period hoop.
Me neither, but I recently decided that I “need” a 1911.
Whhaaatttt??? You’re…you’re just kiddin’, right? RIGHT?
probably just a figure of speech. yeah. That’s it He didn’t mean it. Not really
Well, there was that little alloy snub-nose I’ve had my eye on. And maybe a Ruger revolver in .30 carbine to go with the AutoMag III. And Taurus has a new line out that look sleek, And…
Nah. I didn’t mean it!
Pheeewwww!
