Nah I’d rather make you realize you can’t go around making outrageously false accusatory statements in order to pull people into your personal crusade. If you want to have a real discussion about that video, frame it rationally.
But in this case, it WASN’T PP, it was ONE individual nurse-AND she was suspended. AND how about you address the people who did said sting in the first place-what the HELL was their purpose?
Where? If you’re referring to a post (#4?), the title is still the same.
A mod can change titles for you.
Has the OP yet requested that the thread title be changed to “Planned Parenthood employee suspended for allegedly covering up rape allegation”?
If the claims in this case are true, the nurse was wrong. If there are any PP offices where workers are encouraged (or excused) for not reporting allegations of criminal activity involving underaged patients, that would be abhorrent. Somehow I doubt that’s the case.
I expect Planned Parenthood to follow high standards for truthfully advising clients and following the law. That’s been the history of this organization, in marked contrast to those who demonize it.
I, for one, welcome our 13-year-old rapist overlords.
Planned parenthood is the only reason why I was able to join Peace Corps. Peace Corps has a very difficult medical screening process, and I was uninsured. I actually had doctors hang up on me, even when I said I’d pay out of pocket. Nobody would see me even if I’d pay them cash upfront. But Planned Parenthood saw me. And they only charged me a reasonable fee based on my income. It’s only because of them that I was able to do the best thing I’ve ever done.
They also provided me with birth control, STD tests and PAP smears for years when I was uninsured. No hassle. No fuss. They treated me with respect and put my health first, not my money.
So frankly, I don’t care if Planned Parenthood does human sacrifice of a 13 year old girl now and then. They do a hell of a lot of good. More than you even know- did you know they provide primary care to uninsured people? I don’t see the Christian Right providing health care to uninsured people. I don’t see them caring at all. Every time I went to Planned Parenthood for my Peace Corps stuff I’d have to walk by those protesters with their bloody fetus signs. What are they doing to help anyone? What is their big plan for the uninsured? Fucking assholes.
BTW, I believe Planned Parenthood also does pre-natal care for those who ARE expecting. They’re not just there for abortion. (And for birth control, for that matter).
The last time I went (now that I am uninsured, I go to PP for my BCP and pelvic exams; my doc even looks after my PCOS and monitors my cholesterol, etc) there were no less than 2 women in there with their kids. It made the protesters out front look awfully funny. They offer prenatal care, postnatal care, child care. My doc there is wonderful.
At least in New Mexico, the bolded portion above is store policy, not state law.
I love PP, too. I don’t feel like getting into the grisly details, but I truly feel they saved my butt. I had health care from them, too, when I couldn’t afford anything else.
For what it’s worth the age of consent in the Vatican City is 12.
I don’t have enough experience to make my own judgment about what the age of consent should be, but it seems that the US is more conservative than most countries. In my stereotype of American culture sex seems to be more repressed and viewed negatively.
I have a hard time faulting somebody (in this case the nurse) for giving a person a bit more respect and freedom than they should legally.
Was the “teen” there to request an abortion?
In any case, what’s the required reaction if a (supposedly) juvenile patient blurts out that they have an adult sexual partner? Any chance acting on the information runs afoul of confidentiality requirements? Any chance a nurse might’ve heard boasts before about “my older boyfriend” and found out they were lies, only after making a big deal about it?
Frankly, I’m having trouble seeing what the big deal is, but I’m not one to fret about age-of-consent laws or anti-abortion frothery.
You don’t get out much, do you?
I wish I could since I am so tired of people who do these stings and folks that have to spread the word. Leave Planned Parenthood alone - they are the only sane voice in the wilderness of fully accepted and in many cases supported teen pregnancy, three and four generation welfare mothers and insanity like the Duggars.
How many times has the 20 year old woman gone to a Planned Parenthood and wasted their valuable time with her lies? What was her purpose in doing this activity? Was she trying to trip up nurses who put more value on keeping the “child’s” pregnancy confidential? You aren’t curious?
Sometimes the person means more than the law that was meant to serve that person and you have to be the one to make that decision.
This girl should be brought up on accounts of fraud in addition to the censure of the nurse.
It’s always weird to me that a family that can support their children is lambasted so often. I feel sorry for the Duggars and for their children that you are actively wishing had never been born.
Sometimes I wish that people who believed the world is overpopulated and that OTHER people should be doing something about it would take matters into their own hands and reduce their contribution to overpopulation by 1.
QFT
I don’t know a damn thing about HIPPA but I believe they ARE supposed to report it.
I don’t like the message it sends though. “Come seek needed medical care and we’ll throw your boyfriend in jail!”
This.
This whole thing is total bullshit. Why are you so interested in other peoples’ fake sex lives anyway, Euthanasiast?
