Play Name that Tune with me again--- 1980's Edition.

  1. The Cure, Close to You
146 - I can hear it “You Got It all…over him”…This song used to crack me up (I pictured someone spilling something all over some guy) but I don’t know who sings it.

rexnervous, I actually prefer the Patti Smith version, but I wasn’t sure if that was 80’s or earlier, so I figured someone would get the U2 version. I love that song!
150. You say I’m a dreamer
We’re two of a kind
Both of us searching for
some perfect world
we know we’ll never find

  1. I’m a man - I’m a goddess
    I’m a man - Well I’m a virgin
    I’m a man - I’m a blue movie
    I’m a man - I’m a bitch
    I’m a man - I’m a geisha
    I’m a man - I’m a little girl
    And we make love together

My metal head husband chimed in:

  1. Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast. I didn’t ask him about 84!

Here’s an artist that for some reason hasn’t turned up here yet:

  1. Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick and think of you.
Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new.
  1. I know one song with “you got it all over him”, its from “the Jets”. Don’t know if thats the one you’re talking about.

Cyndi Lauper-- Time After Time.

I won’t add any more until some of the outstanding ones get aced-- and because I keep getting my '70s and 80’s mixed up!

Yes to The Jets, yes to The Cure, yes to Cutting Crew, yes to Squeeze.

150 = “Hold Me Now,” by The Thompson Twins.

151 = “Sex (I’m a)” by Berlin.

152 = “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper.

153:
Then I wake up and you’re not there
Pain finds me everywhere
Oh, but you don’t care

154:
I’ve been feeling so much older
Frame me and hang me on the wall
I’ve seen you fall into the same trap
This thing is happening to us all

155
Gone, fractured but free
We remain tender together
Not so in love; it’s not so wrong
We’re only human after all

139 - Tom Petty = You’re Jammin’ Me

Glass Tiger’s “Don’t Forget Me When I’m Gone”

Crowded House’s “Something So Strong”

One of the best songs of the 80s …
Level 42’s “Something About You”

#156:
Is everything ok?
I just thought I’d write a song
To tell the world
How much I miss you
#157
First thing I remember when you came into my life
I said I wanna get that girl, no matter what I do
Well I guess I’ve been in love before
And once or twice have been on the floor
But I’ve never loved no one the way that I love you
#158:
You can’t stop what has begun
Signed, sealed, they deliver oblivion
We all have a dark side, to say the least
And dealing in death is the nature of the beast

Hrmph. Apparently, that was too easy - bordelond got 'em all.
Then again, most of the ones I remember ARE.

156:
Cigarette smoke was annoying and my mood was fit for a bath

157:
I could light the night up with my soul on fire
I could make the sun shine from pure desire

158:
I’ve seen you under the midnight
Love darts in your eyes
How far can you take it…do you realize?

Oops, renumber mine as b159, 160 & 161**.

#157 = “Late in the Evening” - Paul Simon

161 (Formerly 158): “Magic,” The Cars

  1. “Living at home is such a drag/Now your mom threw away your best porno mag”

  2. “Respectfully I say to thee/I’m away that you’re cheating/But no one makes me feel like you do.”

Typo department: That should be “aware” not “away”

Remember…‘Preview’ is your friend.

Steve Windwood’s “Higher Love”
Fish’s latest entries:

  1. “Living at home is such a drag/Now your mom threw away your best porno mag”

There went alla’ mine again.

164:
Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street

165:
I don’t believe it! There she goes again! She’s tidied up and I can’t find anything!

166:
Just try to understand, I’ve given all I can…still, you’ve got the best of me.

Is 160 really “Higher Love?” I thought it was “The Finer Things”

Hamadryad, Very Best of Crowded House is currently on my CD player.

164 = Joe Jackson - Is she really going out with him?
165 = Thomas Dolby - She Blinded me with Science
166 = Madonna - Borderline

my next ones will be in a sec…

  1. Joe Jackson, Is She Really Going Out With Him (I think that’s the title!)

  2. Thomas Dolby, She Blinded Me with Science

  3. Madonna, Borderline

Damn, Preview, preview, preview.

Hey, would anyone care to share their ages? I’m curious as to how many of you are my age, how many are younger but fans of 80’s music, etc.

I’ll start. I’m 34, and graduated from High School in 1986.

167). Life is wasted on illusions
Tom and Jerry is no solution
Evil gains for [something unintelligible]
Pinnochio is a real boy, look around!

168). Joan of Arc was burning at the stake
somebody had made a big mistake
she had lit a cigarette
in an airport where you get
all your fingers taken off for smoking
meanwhile up the road a factory’s choking
the ones who killed her work there, I’m not joking

169). Down out the office had to fill out the forms
a pink one, a red one, the girl doesn’t choose
up to the counter to see what they think
they says “It doesn’t count man, it ain’t written in ink”

and my attempt at a stumper…
170). A nice breeze blows in
whenever the big fella cracks a grin
and when the time and the place is right
we sit down, sip some bouillabaisse
