Play PacMan at Google

Go to the Google homepage. Play PacMan. Be happy.

Very nice!

Very, very cool…I like the board design, too – the dead ends w/power pills at the end are a nice touch.

Anyone else encounter a bug where you pass right though a ghost while you’re powered up without eating him?

You just made my Friday.

Sweet holy mother of God thank you Google!

(I spent the better part of 1984 playing that game)

I’m still looking for a PacMan version that accurately and exactly reproduces the look and sound of the Atari version I [del]wasted[/del] enjoyed every bloody nano-second of my youth on, anyone know of such an animal? Shouldn’t be too hard with 21st century technology …

Original movie in between levels 2 and 3, (small pac-man running from ghost from right to left, then large pac-man chasing ghost from left to right)

I died on level 5 and was upset there wasn’t another movie between 4&5. Did anyone else get further?

You mean the Atari 2600 Pac-Mac? Good God, why? There are Atari 2600 emulators out there in the wild, so you should be able to find one with some searching.

I can just see Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell trying to outdo each other going for the perfect score on Google Pac-Man.

If you insert two coins you can play co-op mod with Ms. Pac Man as well. One player uses the arrow keys, the other uses the WASD keys to move around.

Wow – thanks!

The thing I found so impressive is that isn’t just a game that looks like Pac-Man – it is Pac-Man. The ghosts move the way they moved in the original, even with the sometimes inexplicable changes in direction as they’re bearing down on you (thank goodness). They beat you on the flats, but you’re faster in the turns and in the tunnels. And I think they time that ghosts are vulnerable after a energizer varies by level (although not as dramatically as in the original game).

The thing I don’t like about it is, due to the embedded Google logo, what looks like a straight turn isn’t quite, and isn’t exactly lined up - nuancing a turn with a ghost on your tail isn’t authentic imho.

Maybe he means the 5200 version?

The thing I don’t like is that somehow there’s a glitch with Firefox and my Google Toolbar so that it plays the pacman wakka wakka wakka sound non-stop and there’s nothing I can do to stop it minus closing the browser. Grrrr!

I have no idea why but the Empire State Building web site has Pac Man and other classic video games for free.

I was never much good at this game when I had a joystick but having to use arrow keys increases my suckiness one hundredfold.

You can get it for the iPhone. And apparently the Google version works in the iPhone’s browser.

Damn. I just discovered this, but you beat me to it. It’s quite fun trying to control both at the same time.

Yeah, that’s my new addiction. After awhile, I’ve found it’s easier to play that way. You can station one of them next to a power pellet, and if the other gets in trouble, then <gulp!>, its ghost-eating time!

Of course the loud PacMan music must be enlivening offices everywhere today.

According to CNET, Google accurately recreated the original Pac-Man for their logo. Although they recieved the blessing of Namco Bandai to use the Pac-Man imagery and sounds, they actually programmed their Google game themselves rather than have NBGI do it for them.
