Maybe next time I can get involved in the big kids game. I know that Shibb at least, appears to have the opposite problem; wherein he can’t seem to STOP talking.
Hey!
Let’s get some commentary here!

Four players on the ropes, five fighting for the lead.
Boy, that Byzantium player looks tough. They should just vote to make him the winner now. Save everyone some time.
and Eire sucks rocks.
Wikkit, I thought if anyone it would be the other Ben gloating in this thread. Maybe we should just propose Byzantium the winner. I think I’ll send Dave an email…

Abe_Babe, I hardly ever see you post in here anymore. At first I was wondering: who is this insouciant Abe_Babe?
It has indeed been awhile.
Just so you know, you have my full support on the “Vote Byzantium the Winner” Campaign. Lemmee know what you need to make it happen, phone banks, door to door workers, you name it.
and Wikkit has every right to gloat as the ally and best bud of the Winner-elect.
So, it’s one month later IRL, we’re one year later in the game (not quite following the 1 week per year schedule). Spain is dead, Poland gave up, Hungary amazingly persists, and Israel has found himself a cozy niche. Burgundy’s and Sicily’s alliance has made them the front runners, but uncertainty surrounds the Sicilian’s bulid. Eire, Ukraine, and Byzantium all struggle to be the next behemoth.

And I’m going to keep ressurecting this thread every year until someone not in the game comments on the game.
Ah, my dear Wikkit, you are indeed a patient and persistent fellow! I wonder if anyone besides us actually looks in here much less posts in here. I’m certain it is because they envy and fear us. Not because we are diplomacy-obsessed geeks. No, that could never be it.
Anyway, I still see this as anyone’s game. We’ve only eliminated one and most of the players remain strong although Don Omni and I maintain a statistical advantage. And privately I’ve already conveyed my concerns to him about his unseemly build. We shall see how he responds.
I should take a moment to note that a Burgundian rule (Paix a la Bourgogne) would be one filled with love, flowers and wine. A Porsche in every garage, and a French sex kitten in every boudior. (If you’re not into un petit chaton then I’m sure we can arrange something else) Plus fromage et escargot. Lots and lots of cheese and snails.
Damn! I probably had them up until that last bit. Time to surrender and then collaborate with the occupation.
I wasn’t kidding.

FTR, Ukrainian rule of Europe will include borshch eating shumka dancers on every street corner.
White power marches inexorably onwards.
Wait, that doesn’t sound right, does it?
My hat is off to Hungary, who has tenacity imressive enought that I dedicated the only two builds in the entire year to his total destruction. Being rational only gets you so far in this game, and then it’s just the unswerving execution of accumulated grudges.

Ok I’ll comment.
This varient looks impossibly hard. There is now way in hell I could ever play such a game. I’m playing the Milan Varient and it drives me crazy!
I’m like that guy in The Princess Bride forever going over my options. Say an opponent can attack a or b in a turn and I can defend A or B. I’m just like
Clearly he will attack A because taking that area will be the best for him.
but he knows that I will think that and he will attack B.
But he knows that I will try to think from his point of view and he can’t possibly attack B so he must attack A.
The game you’re playing is just too complicated.
I thought the same thing when I first saw the map, but really, it isn’t. There’s a limit to the number of neighbors you can have. Compare Hungary in Aberration to Austria in normal Dip. Both are in roughly the same spot, and both have four neighbors at the start of the game. There are more options for moves, but I think that’s a good thing. With the normal dip, the first three years of moves are all scripted out on the various strategy sites. With Aberration, the opening is a lot more open. And with the number of free SCs, a bad first year might not make any difference in the long run.
I like the Princess Bride analogy, though.
<looks at bookmark to 1164 page> Well, yeah, you’re in the lead. No wonder you have a lot of decisions. Start worrying when you don’t have any. Is there a thread for 1164? I’ve been completely ignoring it, and I shouldn’t have.
Once it’s over, and 1163 is over, play a game of Aberration with me.
Come into my parlor, said the spider to the fly.
Well I’m firmly re-established on the net again. Next time you guys kick a game off would you do me a favour and let this humble English Gentlemen know…
