... playing World of Warcraft too much?

Goddammit, I finally find someone else on the boards who plays on Hyjal, and he’s a filthy pink-skin!

-Gurtok, Kulutari, and Iriander, Horde, Hyjal.

I have a couple of characters on Hyjal. Horde, no less. But I’m currently playing on Suramar, so they’re kind of on hiatus.

Unfortunately I’m on Stormrage already and don’t have the heart to level up yet another character (I’ve been playing since the early Alpha of the game). I apreciate the offer though.

Amazon has (or had) the game on sale (WoW) for $30. First time I’ve seen it for under $45.

Wait for the expansion and buy the upgraded addition…its sure to come with the full game. DaoC and EQ both do when they put out an expansion. Or if you know someone playing ask them if they have the addition with the extra trial addon’s. If they do you can borrow their disks, load the game and go under the trial ID…then you’ll just be paying for the monthly fee.

Another thing you could do is simply buy someone’s account. I know a lot of folks who played for a couple of months then quit. Some only played until the free trial period was done and never payed the monthly fee at all.

Or just wait until march and play D&D online.

All of my characters are on Hyjal, and the one I’m currently paying the most attention to is a Troll. FOR THE HORDE!

I don’t know if anyone else follows the adventures of Flintlock, but I thought I’d post a link for those who don’t so they can check it out. My favorite is, of course, the ‘Chuck-Shot’…

Dammit! Doesn’t ANYONE play on Proudmoore? Sheesh!

I have a pally there, and my husband has a warlock there. We have characters on a couple of other servers, (Night Elves on one, and undead on another), but we never play them. Actually, my husband has several characters on several servers, but I have no clue which servers.

I stick with my pally mainly, because I like playing her. I’m happy to see that the pally’s are finally getting some loving in the next patch. I chose the pally class because that’s what I played on Diablo II.

All of my gang are on Ulldum (sp?). I do that because it’s where my RL buddies play, so then I see them online (like last night, where my friend decided it would be a good idea for his 11 paladin to take on an 18 merlock that then called his buddies for back up).

People who already have accounts can apparently get coupons to get a 30 dollar rebate on another copy of the game for a friend. I presume that still includes the first month free subscription free, so you’d end up paying just 5$ for the actual game.

I’ve gotten started on a free MMORPG called Project Entropia. I’m sure it’s nowhere as rich and lush as WoW, but it’s free and you can actually CONVERT the ingame currency back and forth with real US dollars at a 1USD to 10Game dollar ratio. It’s a real bitch getting started if you don’t deposit money though.

According to this report it uses cheap third world labor if memory serves (I haven’t read it, but I listened to it the other day).

This just seems to suck all the fun out of a game – why are you playing if it isn’t to play? And if you have a lvl 50 character that you bought–all that says is you couldn’t get it up yourself.

Not to mention that you’re going to play that lvl 50 like a lvl 1 because you don’t know how to play. Which is really going to draw groupmate aggro in instances and battlegrounds…

W00t! Another Suramar-playing homey.

Its much the same as when folks buy an account on eBay or where ever. I know that when I sold my DaoC account the guy who bought it didn’t have any idea how to play a minstrel…but his cash spent pretty well. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a friend that used one of these leveling services to level up an alt and to level up his wifes account. I think it cost him something like $150 to take his character from 42-50. He said it was worth it for him so he wouldn’t have to grind through those levels for the umpteenth time (we have been playing together since the Beta). Myself leveling up was most of the fun even though I’ve done it before…and Blizard was pretty good about adding new instances to explore. If they would just get their shit together on the PvP side I’d be happier.

I think most folks who by account or pay to have them leveled up are doing it solely for end game stuff like PvP…but to me it makes more sense in a game like DaoC than it does in WoW. Just MHO.

Khermut, orc shaman (it’s not easy being green ;))
Violette, undead rogue
Haunau, tauren druid (Haunau, brown cow)
Toroblanco, tauren hunter
Abinda, auction mule

I don’t know anything about WoW, but it sounds very very interesting, and just based on the enthusiasm I see here I may add it to my X-Mas list. However, before I take that drastic step, could someone give me a beginner’s eye view? I’m currently playing CoV, so I have a slight idea of what to expect (I think). Any info would be appreciated.

My roommate and I are just getting started (as of…last weekend), so I can probably provide a fresher n00b-eye view than most. However, I haven’t played CoH/CoV, so I can’t directly compare the two. I will, however, be willing to answer as many questions as I can.

(Oh yeah, the aforementioned roommate, the lovely if largely absent Audreyk, and I are on Arthas if anybody has chars on that server.)

Actually, I’m not sure how alike they are either. I’ve played a little Everquest, is that more similar?

It is, though I think WoW is much more intuitive than Everquest. Unless they’ve changed the system since I last played EQ (which would be about a year ago), the WoW quest interface is about 10,000X more useful than what passes for a quest interface in EQ. At least.

Also, it’s entirely possible to level to 60 solo in WoW, whereas EQ mobs are designed to scale in power on an entirely different order of magnitude than player characters, so while you can solo mobs up to level 20 (or so), you need to group to take care of higher levels because mob power outstrips character power after that point.
