Wow,this thread went from Playboy to bickering about old fashion words. Lemme take it back a notch…

  1. I’ll save my rant about the types of black women in playboy later, but for the most part you are correct about the demographic and percent.

  2. For your number #3 rant (skipping all of that tango and bumpo stuff) Tia Carrire was on the cover of the last issue. However, I do agree that women of the east (including pacific islander and Indian/Middle Eastern) AND LATIN women are largely unrepresented in Playboy. (Dammit,when will they discover Sofia Veraga?!?!?!?!) That’s because it’s a North American magazine with a non diverse staff. Hell,there first Hispanic model was Mia St.Jon the boxer (according to her that is :smiley: ) We can elaborate on this later.

4.Not sure about paychecks,but I imangine they live confortably. Most of the women have other carrers anyway. Like the one playmate of the month in the Tia issue was an hispanic attorney from Texas (and DAMN fine for 35+ woman)

5.Being that playboy is not so much a “nudie” magazine as it is basically now is GQ/NY Post ith a few artise nude photos, I think their mothers would feel better they are posing in there than per se XXX Juggs magazine or something. Personally I don’t like Playboy anymore, there photos are as I said before just semi artsy crap. I’m an Avid SCORE fan now. Last Issue they had their first DD model from China. Talk about Diversity! :smiley:

Hey, I just want to say that I only posted to this thread out of genuine concern for Pau’s well-being. I’d hate to open cnn.com someday and read about an American on trial for importing pornography into KSA. If that’s not how the system works, then my bad.

I am a retired (U.S.) Army guy. I presently work as an instructor. I have been in the Kingdom for six years.

I find the Saudi justice system to be fair within its limits. The punishments are harsh and so they seem to go the extra mile to ensure they get the right guy. Most often an expat like myself would just be deported for a porn offense.

Unplesant, but not life-threatening.

I have largely downloaded all the phtos available from the site. I am struck the sameness of the ladies, the poses and even the clothing. (Where do they get so much fake snakeskin?)

Racial diversity (someone mentioned the lack of Latinas) would help. Heck, ANY sort of diversity would help. I understan that Penthouse has gone more hard-core to solve this problem.

Why this lack of creativity? Girls in running shorts? Wet t-shirts? Too-daring-for-real-life evening gowns? Anything at all different?

I suppose that since they sell two million copies a month (America’s best-selling newsstand magazine) there is little reason for change.

Back home I get the Mexican Playboy. Strangely, the girls are (mostly) the same ones from the US).

I have a collection of Playboy Mags going back to 1977. From then up until now, there have been 41 women of color out of the 313 Playmate Centerfolds.

From what I have Karen Velez Miss December 1984 became the first Latina to ever hold the title of “Playmate of the Year” back in 1985. She is now married to Lee Majors of the “Million Dollar Man” fame.

Renee Tennison, who was Miss November 1989, became the first woman of African descent to hold the title of “Playmate of the Year” in 1990.

Jodi Lynn Patterson, who was Miss October 1999, became the first woman of Asian descent to hold the title of “Playmate of the Year” in 2000.

I had a nice list of names for all of you all categorized too, but as usual the server went down when I tried to submit it…I lost all of it and had to give you a very very condensed version.

Coincidentally, useless info for those who might be interested of the 12 Playmates vying for the title of “Playmate of the Year” for 2003. There is one african american (Sherria Tawan, Miss November 2002) and one latina (Christina Santiago, Miss August 2002) the other 10 are caucasians.

In regards to the OP, the last woman of Asian descent to become a centerfold was Jodi Patterson, back in October 1999. Diana Lee (Miss May 1988) and Venice Kong (Miss September 1985) are the only Playmates of Chinese descent. Most of the other Playmates in the Asian category were of Filipino descent. Of the playmates of filipino descent…Kymberly Herrin (Miss March 1981) was the most Caucasian of them all, blond hair and all…Kymberly was one of the models feature in almost all the ZZtop Music Videos.

Since the US Census includes Asian and Pacific Islanders as one group, I also added Kona Carmack (Miss February 1996) to this group (being she is of Polynesian descent) and Lourdes Kananimanu Estores (Miss June 1982) who had both filipino and hawaiian in her.

Since your in Saudi, Gwen Hajeck (Miss September 1987), another blue eyed blond has been the only Centerfold of Arab descent to have posed for Playboy. I could be wrong but not really sure, but I believe Christina Leardini (Miss April 1991) may also be of Arabic descent. I think when she posed for Playboy she was already married and her husband was serving in the Gulf War at the time.

Correct me if I’m wrong folks.

I’ve lived a fairly long time and had no idea that Oriental was not acceptable as a means of identifying people. IIRC, I was taught in grade school that it was a PREFERED means of identification. The word “Oriental,” used to describe a person (or a rug), has never held any derogatory meaning for me and never will. However, “racist white son of a bitch” is derogatory, filled with hatred, and violates all boundaries of intelligent discourse. To make such a statement in reaction to the casual use of the word “Oriental” is racist in itself and is far more offensive than the use of the word in question.
