But,
“HAVE YOU REHABILITATED YOURSELF?”
But,
“HAVE YOU REHABILITATED YOURSELF?”
We picked up the garbage.
Can I shake your hand?
I know Democrats that are proud that they have been arrested for protesting. You may disagree with what they are protesting but at a basic level why should that be different for Republicans.
Again, context matters.
Arrested for protesting (for or against) something: These are equivalent.
Arrested for fraudulently stealing money from a leukemia charity by faking receipts? Different.
Arrested for shoplifting a candy bar at age 14? versus Arrested for punching a guy in a brawl at age 32? These are different.
When the leader of the party is a rapist being arrested is a badge of honor I guess.
Absolutely! My point was just to say they were wrong for being proud for being arrested needs that context.
To use a John Lewis phrase, one is “good trouble.”
Absolutely! My point was just to say they were wrong for being proud for being arrested needs that context.
The thing is, the audience who cheered did not have context either.
They were just cheering for the generic "got arrested’, which seems very puzzling (and disturbing)
If I was at a Green party meeting, and someone asked the candidates “Who here has been arrested for blocking logging trucks from taking old growth trees?” I would expect cheers.
If the question was “who here has been arrested”? I would not expect cheers.

When at the state Republican election of officers they announced they were using ballot boxes instead of electronic voting and carried the boxes in over their heads like trophies … let’s just say my reaction to their reaction was, “No sheep is safe tonight.”
(I should add that to the movie quotes you always say" thread.
“Beetlejuice” Boebert has gotten a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband. I don’t care for Mrs. Boebert’s politics, but I hope she and her family are safe.
The judge’s order, which could be made permanent at a hearing Thursday, also included protections for the couple’s three younger sons.
I have not studied them, but from what I have heard, Ms. Boebert and her ex both seem like pieces of work. No one should live in fear of another. I am hesitant to say this, but I would not put it beyond Ms. Boebert to present matters - or even advance charges - that were not entirely true in an attempt to obtain sympathy/political advantage.
That’s certainly fair. My take, let the local authorities and judge (who presumably have far more information than I do) make the evaluation of credibility, risk, and appropriate next steps.

With her I’d say it’s certainly possible. But he has a history of trouble with the law, particularly in violent ways.
Neighbors describe Lauren Boebert's husband as a "dumb j------" who is "dumb as a post."
Jayson Boebert, U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert’s ex-husband, shoved his thumb into one of their son’s mouth during an altercation early Tuesday morning just days after fighting with his ex at…
These aren’t just claims that Lauren made about her husband. These were incidents with witnesses.
Yeah. I knew he was a bad actor. But I also knew she had a history of self promotion and found some facts challenging.
I guess even a despicable person ought not be threatened by an ex.
“A dumb j-------”? Jackanape? Jalopy? Jew? What?
What?
I’m guessing jackass.
“A dumb j-------”?
Pretty sure it rhymes with “Burkhoff”.
I’m guessing jackass.
Or this. Same number of letters.
Maybe it’s both at once, like Schrodinger’s Insult.
Perhaps he needs a restraining order against her and any wacky supporters as well.
I read it as jock.
