Did I miss it? Hasn’t there typically been a State of the Union watch along thread?
I couldn’t find one either…I wanted to find out who had shouted what when Biden started talking about the burn pits causing cancer.
Nm… That was apparently Lauren Boebert.
Also, was the camera crew wasted or what? I was watching on NBC, and nearly every time the cameras cut to the audience, there was lots of jerking around and random zooming.
Nobody started one, and then somebody else did not start one, and now it seems to have run its course. I suspect there is just a tremendous amount of burn-out here.
I’m glad I didn’t have to take a drink every time he said “folks”.
Biden’s skill as a world leader is huge. I am so grateful he is the one in this position right now.
But a great orator he is not.
So fine, be a bunch of haters. I thought he nailed it. But I’m sure the “Biden is senile crowd” will find a lot to lie about.
And what exactly did Boebert shout?
I thought it was a very good speech, pushing forward Democratic policies but in very moderate and bipartisan language. He was clearly aiming his rhetoric at least partially at the blue-collar workers who used to be a Democratic consistency.
My only nitpick is that he would start talking again too soon over the applause. Let the applause last a little longer!
Such a piece of trash.
How about this Republican response?
I had no idea we were living in such a crime ridden hellhole. I must not watch the right news.
I listened to a good part of it but its like the speechwriters for this didn’t even listen to the POTUS.
And Gov. Kim Reynolds is such a ferret-faced liar I can only put up with so much.
Now rep Kevin Brady of Texas is telling me crime is rampant too.
Huh.
That is the RW talking point of the year: the border is out of control and criminals are running rampant. Whether this has any connection to reality is to be determined.
This may be the first SOTU to address the assemblage as “folks”.
As a resident of Iowa, I heartily endorse this remark.
That and the fact that schools are teaching kids about dangerous radical ideas like “equality” and “justice” and “racism” and “American history,” and the only way to stop it is to give parents full control over the curriculum and deciding just what books little Brock and Katelynn can safely read in the classroom.
I don’t think they do. They have their predetermined response all planned out, ready to hit the current GOP talking points regardless of what was actually said in the speech. A good example was Biden’s rather direct call to “fund the police” (“Fund them,” he repeated), something guaranteed to disappoint a lot of the progressive left. Yet here’s Kim Reynolds, prattling on about Biden and his leftist party out to defund the police in the midst of this epic (imaginary) crime wave.
It’s kinda like Drew Carey used to say, “Welcome to the Republican response to the State of the Union, where their talking points are made up and the facts don’t matter.”
I get that all is fair in love in war but like… this feels petty even for the Republicans.

According to the reporter on the floor from PBS Newshour, she didn’t get any support from the majority of the rest of her party.
She obviously had no idea that he was building up to a story about his own son. Then again she has no idea about many things.
You’ve seen her opponent Alex Walker’s campaign ad? (I won’t link to it- really scatological)
