I opened a question in general questions about the 9,000,000,000 shortage.
You thought I wanted to debate???
Why didn’t you ask me if I wanted to debate.I don’t. I opened them for discussion.
It seems evident that something must be wrong with a sysyem of government that screws up that badly.
You just closed the two threads even though I reworded it to make sure that it fit the parameters of GQ.
Several responses come to mind. The first is that your first post was hardly a coherent question.
As to what appears to be your point, missing by $9 billion on a $2 trillion budget is hardly “screwing up badly.” That’s less than 0.5%–actually that’s pretty darn good, particularly in a period of economic uncertainty.
Those people are not supposed to screw up.They were supposed to be placed on the job because they were experts.
The money must now come out of My social security fund.
Dubya wanted to dip into it from the start.
Doesn’t that suggest that there may be more to this question?
Also if as you suggest the amount is reasonable then the $300. give back was not appropriate.
The Bookeater already addressed the issue, in the locked thread:
Your “General Question” was":
And the mod’s response was:
You’ve been here long enough to know the drill. GQ is for questions to which there is, generally speaking, a “yes” or “no” answer.
For one thing, your OP wasn’t even phrased as a question, but rather as an opinion. IMO, he should have simply moved it to IMHO, but we’re told it takes more server capacity to move threads than to lock them, so I think he made the right decision.
… and then instead of sucking it up and moving on, you opened another GQ thread on the same subject? Sheesh. You’ve been here longer than I have, dude, and you still don’t know how to behave in GQ?
I submit that if you stop whining and save for your retirement like a responsible citizen of the earth, your social security fund wouldn’t be all that important to you.
Of course there is also the fact that the $9 billion is coming out of a gov’t surplus that it shouldn’t even fucking have. Since when does the gov’t get to keep a fucking surplus of our money?
We got enough Bush/Gore steel-cage bitchslap matches going on in the Pit. This thread is only about bibliophage’s decision to close the thread.
If you want to discuss this whole political thing, start a thread in GD. And be sure to provide me with the thread’s title. That way I can avoid accidentrally reading another thread full of partisan bullshit wherein normally coherent posters turn into babbling morons as they metaphorically masturbate their party’s recent presidential candidate while villifying their opposition.
Geez, Sua, you really must be straight, ‘cause you aint’ got no taste in men.
And even if you were to masturbate Mr. Gore, you probably would need help, at least if my third-hand-report (the best kind) is correct. The story originates from a nurse at Bethesda Naval Medical Center, whose examination of the then-Vice-President concluded that “there’s a reason Tipper’s always smiling.”
So, um, the third-hand-report is that it’d take three hands…
Duck Duck and others.
I have to do this before this computer freezes up so here goes.
The original question was stated in the subject. See the question mark?
Maybe I should have added WTF.
Maybe Bibliophage would have understood the General Question Then.
This is not partisan politics.
I have been paying SS for 30+years.
If you would just please give me a better place than My government to invest my future I would gladly do so.
Assuming I don’t have to fight with another branch of government to stay in buisness like I had to with My satellite buisness.
Some of us don’t have daddys money to fall back on.
Right now.SS is the only retirement I have. And for the smart ass that assumes that it is easy puting money into retirement when you can’t find a job you can stick it.
Now I am done.
