Please help ID a song's title/artist

So the other day a friend gave my wife a demo CD that had been made by a mutual friend. One of the tracks was listed on the label as having the title “Time,” and the lyrics began with

Some people come
Some people go
Some we love
And some we know

We’re unable to make contact with the singers at the moment, but my wife swears that it is a cover of a folk song she heard and loved in her teenage years (she was born in 1953). But the artist is completely escaping her right now.

Given the clues above (plus the fact that she recalls it being done with rich vocal harmonies, not unlike the Kingston Trio), can anyone help me identify this song, and its original artist?

I’m pretty sure the song she’s thinking of is “Time,” by the Pozo-Seco singers.

ETA: Whether that’s the song you heard, I’m not sure, as I haven’t seen the lines you quoted in the lyrics I’ve found. However, the song was done by many performers and some may have included those lyrics.
