Please Help ID an Old Cartoon Short

This has been bugging me for years…

When I was a kid (born in '71) I remember this little cartoon that was shown a bunch of times on TV.

I’m sure I have some of the details wrong, but here goes…

This little cat was sitting on a city sidewalk. People keep stepping on him.
He says “People! I hate people! They step on ya, walk on ya, step on ya, walk on ya…”

Somehow, he gets on a rocketship and goes to another planet. He gets off the rocket ship, and is very pleased to find himself all alone. When all of a sudden, along come a bunch of Martians and start stepping all over him.
Anybody know what I’m talking about? I’ve tried Googling and looking on YouTube, but to no avail.

First off - it’s not your imagination. The film exists. I can’t recall the title off the top of my head, but I think it was an MGM by Tex Avery. Your problem is that you’re thinking the cat when to Mars, when it really went to the Moon.
A quick look on You Tube gets me “The Cat Who Hated People.” Is this what you’re thinking about?
