Hello all,
I have been without the net for months, so as soon as I’m done typing up this post I’m going wading through the backlog of missed threads - I may be some time.
Anyway, driving home last night I flicked onto a song on what is usually a general request show on a local station. This section of the show however focused on slight musical oddities or unknown songs etc etc. I caught only the last half of the song playing, unfortunately, but I’d love to hear it again - all the way through.
Neither the title or artist were mentioned after it finished, so I assume that was talked about before I tuned in. The station’s website keeps no ‘songs played’ log, they state pretty clearly that they want you to ask on their forums rather than email them if you want to know ‘what was that song I heard?’ - however no one on the forum there has been any help. Googling the lyrics I remember does nothing to help. Ergo, I turn to the SDMB and all you clever types.
The lyrics I remember go either ‘What, what, whats going to happen to the tots’ or ‘… to the children’. The main gist of the song was to do with all the adults in the world getting high or drunk etc…
The rhyming of ‘squad car’ and vodka’ was featured somewhere in there too.
It was obviously a comedy piece, just vocals and a piano I think, and the style of it reminded me of Noel Coward. Or of Peter Sellers pretending to be Noel Coward. Either way.
Grateful for any help,
Gmork
