This is the plant. It was left behind at my boyfriend’s apartment by previous owners. The leaves are kind of rubbery and it seems to be hardy - he waters it whenever the mood strikes him and it’s pretty much the way it was when we found it.
Alocasia - possibly Alocasia x amazonica
