Saje, I had no idea you lived so close. How distressing for you and your whole community.
I live in the Chattanooga area as well, and this is big enough news that when I saw this thread (which I had missed when it was originally posted), I assumed it was about her.
I’m sorry that you lost your friend, IvoryTowerDenizen.
You have my sympathy for the loss of your friend, ITD. May the coming days bring you peace.
We were a core group of 8 of us friends in high school. I was the shy academic one. Gail was effervescent. She brought me out of my shell and made high school such fun. We were all such good friends, our group. But she was always a bit sad under her carefree exterior. Her mom died when we were early teens and she seemed so lonely under her smile.
She left for college and fell off the radar for awhile, but we reconnected after a reunion.
I loved those girls in high school and I will miss her.
How sad. My sympathies to everyone who loved this poor woman. That’s a terrible way for someone to die regardless of the circumstances.
Even if the evidence eventually shows that she committed suicide because she was distraught over the marriage problems, I would say that doesn’t necessarily mean the husband should be blamed for it. Even if he was a jerk to her, he may never have expected things to end like this. I’m sure there are many cases of estranged couples where one parent is furious at the other and fights them all the time, but wouldn’t want anything to happen to the other parent for the kids’ sake if nothing else.
Let’s not debate the husband’s culpability, if you don’t mind. There’s a lot of backstory about their marriage not printed and I’d like to just remember her right now.
I know I made that t about her husband and I probably shouldn’t have. ,I’m hurt, angry and very sad, and it came out. Id just rather not hash that bit out, if possible.
Thanks.
Preliminary analysis of the crash.
Ivory, I’m so sorry you lost your friend. I’m in Montgomery, AL, and this made the local news here. The lake area where Gail had her lake home is part of local community here. Our local channel 8 had an interview with her friend Arlene on the news. There’s no video on their site anymore, but there is an article. Maybe you know Arlene?
Here’s a link to the article:
