Lotta comics of that era were good for a slight smile at best. More for the novelty of the idea than the humor of the execution.
Hagar was an example of that genre. And I liked Hagar back then. It was really just Fred Flintstone drawn as a Viking. Good hearted but generally inept and both took his wife for granted and was in turn outsmarted and henpecked by her.
Wow, that’s a terrible interface on Google to view on a phone. I could not figure out how to zoom in on sections of the page to actually read anything. Best I could do was download individual 256x256 pixel segments from it.
I got Hagar as 3 segments and did an AI upscale on them.
Clicking on a headline is easier. The interface hardly ever recognizes comic strip titles as headlines so you typically have to go for the nearest recognized one.
I’m glad we got a link to The Comics Curmudgeon… but watch out! I just spent three hours catching up on that rarity: an entertaining Mary Worth storyline.
I said it appeared prior to 15 June 1975 because I remember citing it that week, but not the specific day. I also knew I had seen it earlier, but not by how much.
Being one year off after more than 50 is pretty damned good, I think.
