Please help me get my music back

First some background info. This started in July of 82 when I was 20 years old. I woke up one morning and noticed that something happened to the hearing in my right ear. It was like someone had stuck a big wad of cotton in it, I could hear with it but not much. I went to a G.P. and explained the problem and he gave me some pills but after a week with no change I went to an E.N.T. They took some X-rays and a week later had me come in for a CAT
scan. It turned out that I had a disease called Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). NF2 is a rare type of NF characterized by multiple tumors on the cranial and spinal nerves. Almost all affected
individuals develop tumors on both nerves leading from the brain to the ears (also called the eighth cranial nerve). These tumors grow slowly but sooner or later they must be surgically removed and the result of this total deafness. To make a long painful story short, I went deaf on 1/27/85.
Fast forward to the late Nineties.
I buy a computer and get on line and start coming across the many lyrics sites on the web. I had been deaf for fifteen years at that point but when I read the words to the songs I knew it was almost like hearing them again. The trouble is there many songs that I have forgotten the melody to. I know that if I could just her them for a moment it would be enough to catch the melody but that cant be. So my question to you is this. Do you know of any
methods or tricks for regaining lost memories?

This is a complete WAG based on something I was told many years ago, but can you get any hints about the melody by turning the volume up really loud and then touching the speakers to feel the vibrations? At the very least this should remind you what the rhythm of the song is like.

I’ve thought about this a bit… (after I lost a small amount of my hearing at a super-loud movie theatre a while back. The audience was listening that time, but not afterwards.).

A company makes lollipops where the stick vibrates and lets you hear it directly. (Called Sound Bites). Apparently it was based on something Edison made when he was going deaf. I don’t know how much of it depends on a working inner-ear, but if you hacked a line-in to one of these, or found something like it, the vibrations might help somewhat.
