I have been searching for the name of this song & band for the past few years on-and-off, but with no success. I finally decided to try the SDMB (which probably would have saved me considerable time & effort).
There was a music video from the mid-90’s that feature a grunge/metal-type band (I would say LIKE korn, but not quite) where the music video featured all the members of the band in a glass cube in a futuristic museum. I remember a kid was looking at the “exhibit” and reading the small sign about the group.
That’s all I got. I remember I thought the song was great, but I literally have no other information about the band/song. Can anyone here help me out?
I’m probably incorrect, but when you said glass cube I thought of Alice in Chain’s music video for the song, “Again.” Check it out, it’s worth a try. Doesn’t really look like their in a museum to me though
No, not it either, but a good song by a great group.
OK, I guess I should be clear – the band in the glass box did not move. They were mannequins, or at least acting like mannequins. They were an exhibit in a futuristic museum. I think there was a lot of white-painted walls & props.
It kind of sounds like the video for Blur’s “The Universal,” but it’s not exactly the same plot, and they certainly aren’t a new metal/grunge group (not at the time).
Everclear had a “band in the box”-type video in the 90s as well, but I don’t think it was white…
The only museum exhibit video I can think of is Sheryl Crow’s “If It Makes You Happy.” That’s definitely not it…
OK, we’re in the ballpark with Blur’s “The Universal” video, but not quite. I guess the mention of “white” was not quite what I meant. I should have explained that the video had more of a futuristic look to the museum – clean & sterile, not necessarily white. The way the Blur’s video was shot (the pacing, slow-mo’s, etc.) reminded me of the video as well.
I couldn’t find any video from Everclear that came close, but in watching their videos, I really don’t think it was them. The song had more of a korn sound to it.
As you probably guessed, it definitely wasn’t Sheryl Crow – although I watched some of her videos just to make sure!!
The video description sounds very much like “Girl From Mars” (US video version) by Ash but this particular song is more britpop than grunge-like…oddly enough wiki believes the band fits both subgenres. video link.
