Many years ago on PBS I saw an animated TV movie. This movie took place in some dream world. IIRC the characters had to get a character in the real world to dream. Someone invents a portal to the real world and three men in orange clothes travel into the real world. I don’t remember what the three do in the real world. Anyway, eventually the sleeping man in the real world dreams of flamingos and everyone in the dream world transforms into flamingos. I forgot to mention that some of the characters wore what looked like a diaper and tutu combination. Has anyone else seen this?
I have no clue what you saw. I’m sorry I can’t help.
I saw this one PBS animated sci-fi thing narrated by Barry Bostwick and the film was mainly a soft blue color. Big people had little people as pets and a bunch of other weird stuff happened. It was softly disturbing but I have this need to find out what the heck it was. It has some funky new agey soundtrack, too.
I’m afraid I’ve no idea what captainQwark saw, but yours, SanguineSpider, is definitely Fantastic Planer.
Sounds like possibly Twice Upon a Time?
I remember this one…it was on PBS—on a show called “Long Ago and Far Away,” hosted by James Earl Jones—once or twice, when I was a kid.
And the people in the dream world had figured out that they were the dream of the guy in the real world…and his alarm clock was going to go off soon.
So, they manage to send some guys in padded clothing over to the real world, quietly pull the sleeping guy into his own dream, and pop him in a soundproof chamber, so he’d sleep indefinately. It all went well, until he suddenly started dreaming about flamingos, which most of the dream people were turned into.
Far out, man. Groovy.
That’s the film. But I saw in a movie called the festival of animation or animation festival.
I looked through IDMB for it and the only one that it may be is Spike and Mike’s Festival of Animation from 1991. But it’s not available on DVD or VHS.
But I loved that movie.
Which is the answer to approximately 75% of ‘name this animated movie’ threads around here. Throw in the descriptor ‘Weird’ or ‘70s’ and the percentage jumps to 95%.
I saw the dreamworld animation at a Spike & Mike at U. Iowa in 1989. I thought it was pretty nifty myself, but hell if I can remember what it was called. Don’t know if they ran it again in 1991, but maybe they have the '89 run available somewhere?
God, this just reminded me of that old 80’s Saturday morning show Kidd Video where a band gets transported by ‘Master Blaster’ into a cartoon world where they are animated. and they’re trying to make their way back to the real world. I think they befriended some kind of animated pixie/Tinkerbell-type who would get a burst of strength whenever she sneezed.
And now I’ve got that damn song stuck in my head: “…from my video to my radio”
“Rarg”
The Rarg page: Rarg page
and here’s the video on YouTube: Rarg
I saw this film many years ago, and loved it!
What the?
That damn thread in the PIT is pulling up all these zombie threads.
THE END IS NEAR!
