“Ein Klein Nachtmusik” (Serenade #13 in G maj., K.525) by Mozart.
That is indeed it. Thanks DF!
That tune will always remind me of Salieri being pissed that Mozart wrote it, in Amadeus. Now you’ve got it stuck in my head, thanks so much!
I’ve always thought that song would make a great heavy metal song. Crank up the distortion and call it “Ein Klein Rock-music.”
So, what does the K stand for in “K.525”?
‘K’. is short for ‘K.V.’ which stands for ‘Köchel Verzeichnis’, meaning ‘Köchel catalog’. Köchel is the guy who drew up a numbered list of all of Mozart’s works. Although later on some turned up that weren’t on his list, it is still the most commonly used reference.
Thanks TTT!
Why do I find the image of Revtim whistling into his computer mic to get an id on this tune so fricking hilarious.
I did feel silly whistling into my mike!!!
I was originally going to try to describe the tune with “dums”, as in
dum, dum dum! dum dum dum dum dum!
Obviously, that sucks and wouldn’t work. Then the whistling idea occurred to me. Silly, but effective!
Damn. I’ll add this (the rock version of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik) to the list of things (in another current thread) that I thought was a great idea but already turned out to exist.
I probably would have gotten it with your first three dums but definately would have if you put the last dum on.
For future use of “dums” for non-lyrical music, I propose we use the following notation:
dum
dum
dum dum dum dum
dum dum dum
Ah yes, the dum staff.
Actually, I think Venom’s Ein Klein Nachtmusik was just the album title. I’m pretty sure they didn’t really play any Mozart.
