Please identify the tune played at the tail end of this video?

I danced to it 50 years ago, but damned if I can remember the name!

Ok. I braved it. Listened to the whole 20 minutes.
Seriously you danced to that, in the what? 70s.
That some chamber music or something. Where did you go to school?
Vienna waits for you, sweetie.

I have no clue what it is. Sounds slightly familiar, tho’

Anyone who just wants to hear the music can skip ahead to about 20:30.

I recognize it sort of but the clip is really short and I’m not as up on my chamber music as my parents, who spent much money on my classical music education, would have wanted. It almost sounds like the Hallelujah Chorus, but not with singing.

I used to be a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism. My main interest was heraldry, and we danced to tunes like the one in the video at events such as tournaments.

I wish I had had a good kitchen back then. I definitely would have liked to try some medieval recipes too.

It’s definitely not the Hallelujah Chorus, and I’m pretty sure it predates Händel by a century or two.

Yes, I was gonna say play thru. But the video is good. The recipe sounds good

@terentii, I didn’t mean to be offensive. I was just poking you a bit.
I bet the song identity comes to you about next Thursday.

It does seem to be heraldic sounding, like when the Prince enters the banquet hall or the King is dispatching troops.
What I know about Royalty stuff I learned from Lucy Worsley. So not much.
I’ve watched lots of old royal adjacent movies. Most of the Shakespeare made into movies.

I could of heard it in any of those, it does sound almost like Classical music muzak. Or maybe it’s public domain.

Lots of videos on YouTube show what music is playing in the background. I found the video in the wild and didn’t see any attributed music.

I made myself a costume with a hand-stitched shirt and a tunic cut from real leather, all dyed green. When I put on my tights, I was told I had nice legs.

No wonder you were dancin’!

I needed a quarterstaff just to keep the wenches off me! :kissing_face_with_closed_eyes:

Them must’ve been nice gams.

I made myself a court jester costume age 12 or 13.
My tights were bright purple.
I just scared small children and pet cats.

I agree. You could try listening to Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances, and see if there’s any overlap, but it could well be vamp-till-ready faux-mediaeval for cinema.

Wassail, Wassail.

It’s on a Christmas album. Pretty sure tune is good match against Mannheim Steamroller’s Wassail, wassail. Listen to last minute of that.

Didn’t see other instrumental versions on Spotify, but there are a number of versions with lyrics.

I think you’ll find it’s this :-

Skip to 50 seconds in to hear that bit.
I cannot lie, Shazam found it.

That is indeed it. Thank you! :+1:

I met the love of my life at a tournament back then. She was also a dancer all dressed in green.

Fifty years later, I still miss her.

I should’ve scrolled farther… I just spent the last 5 minutes on Shazam, myself :joy:
