Please pray for my Sweetie Pie

I’m not sure how much of this is legitimately made public, but Tris’s daughter is (of course) very precious to him, and is special needs. I wasn’t aware that she had any acute health problems, but IIRC she does have chronic ones. Anyway, my prayers are very much with him and her, and Josh (Tris’s son, and a lurker with only a few posts here).

Tris, if you should log back on, or Josh, if you’re around, please keep us all posted – there are a lot of us who think the world of you, and are anxious for you.

I am back home for a few minutes.

Pie is very sick, pneumonia, and perhaps another infection, although that is unclear. She has had a lot of ER stuff done, and is waiting to go to a bed in ICU. The ER staff said “I think we can turn her around” but everyone seems to think she is very sick.

Your prayers are appreciated. Your comforts as well. Thank you.

Pie (her nickname is Sweetie Pie, Pie for short) is thirty years old, and profoundly handicapped. Pneumonia is a constant hazzard for her, and this time it seems she has gotten a very strong case.

My strongest “Get well now” vibes going out to your precious daughter, and my warmest well wishes for you, Tris. I am so sorry you both are going through this. Please take care.

She’s beautiful, Trisk. I love that smile.

Good thoughts are going your way…

Hitting my knees as we speak. Best wishes to you all.

What a beautiful smile she has. My most positive thoughts go out to you and your family, Trisk.

Keep on hanging in there, and more prayers heading up and warm fuzzies heading your way.

Warm get well wishes for Sweetie Pie - her nickname fits her smile, btw. What a cutie!

Good thoughts coming at you. Let us know if we can help out in any way.

My thoughts and prayers for you and your daughter. Stay strong for her.

Heaven protect her.

Oh wow, what a pretty girl.

My prayers are most definitely with you both, Tris.

She’s beautiful. Healing and calming vibes headed your way. Please keep us posted.

Pie is now in ICU, her mother is there with her. ICU policies being what they are I will be home for a few hours.

Updates: Pie is normally very healthy, she has been hospitalized three times in her life. All three were respiratory involved, the first was Pneumonia at three weeks of age. She has cerebral palsey, and epilepsy, and is profoundly mentally retarded. Basically, until this year, she has been pretty much a happy baby, personality wise. This year has been tough on her, and she has developed some other related problems.

The pneumonia is being described as “a big pneumonia” by the ICU doctor. There is a chance of additional brain damage, as well as other organs not maintained with O2 saturation of her blood well below therapeutic levels for an unknown time, probably hours. She is getting medications for all the above. (Which, of course is a bit of a challenge for her kidneys, and liver.)

The most frightening thing is that this is almost certainly aspiration induced pneumonia, and the dysphagia (difficulty swallowing among other oral motor involvement) will still be there, and could get worse. She might recover completely, to the level she was at before this pneumonia.

I can’t talk about this anymore.

Here is a more recent picture of Sweetie Pie.

She is added to my prayers! God is good, so trust in Him.

oh Tris. I’m so sorry, and I’m praying for you and her.

I hope they’re right. Much love and good thoughts for Tris and Pie.

Oh, man. Your whole family is in our thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Hang in there, she’s very lucky to have you as a father.

Prayers and positive thoughts for Sweetie Pie and you and your family. I hope she heals quickly and fully.
