Please puppy, don't leave me

Yayyy!!! Tail wagging.

Give him a belly rub for me.

Yay! Good news! Checking this thread was the first thing I did this morning. Glad to hear things are gong better but we will continue to keep our puppy paws crossed for a quick recovery.

Thanks for the update. Tail wagging seems like a good sign.

I don’t doubt that for a second…I think you misunderstood me. When your vet said it was good you brought him in so quickly, I thought it was an odd comment, considering your puppy’s symptoms. I mean, what else were you supposed to think…that your puppy was sulking?

I’m glad he’s doing better…post pictures when you can!

Kitty K gives me plenty of paw swipes, 'cause I like to tweek her whiskers until she gets tired of it.

Good news on pup pup. Hoping he’ll be back with you asap.

Sending good vibes to the little guy - I had a German/Lab mix for years - he was a great dog, even when he used to wake me up with a cold, wet nose in the small of my back. Hope the little one is back to piddling on the carpet and eating the sofa cushions in short order.

Sending good doggie vibes from Yoda the Shar-pei and Foster the Terrier mix!

Update: Well, we got the nightly SMS from the vet last night. Things have declined a bit, and he’s apparently in a bit of pain. She’ll be updating this morning as to whether it was just a temporary setback.

And, because this is the way things always go, Zappa (our other dog - a mini Pinscher) is now having issues of his own. We took him in with Jerry Lee just to have him checked as well, but all seemed to be fine - no fever, happy and yappy. He’s been a little quiet and low in appetite over the weekend, but having just been checked, we thought it might be because he was missing Jerry Lee (they’ve never been separated). Unfortunately, it looks like it might be something more serious, as there was blood in his stool this morning, so when vet calls to update us, we’ll be making an appointment to bring him in. His case isn’t nearly as alarming as Jerry Lee’s (well, aside from the fact that blood is pretty damn alarming) because he’s still a bit energetic, and has enough spirit to bug the cats, but really, how much more of this can I take?

Ahh, yes, I did misunderstand  It’s that whole posting before coffee thing. Unfortunately, I think some people wait a lot longer than they should before taking their animals in to be checked. I had a friend who was certain that the first day of trouble was always too soon to take her dog to the vet. My vet was probably just trying to reinforce good behavior  “Good master! Gooood!”

Come on little guy hang in there. You can do it.

Thanks for the update. Bummer about the setback.

I hope things swing upward soon. And take extra good care of yourself as well.

Just a quick update. Zappa has been medicated up, and should be okay - looks like it’s just a stomach thing, and shouldn’t be too serious. We were able to see Jerry Lee while we were there, which was wonderful, but he really looks so weak and sick. The vet doesn’t seem overly optimistic; he hasn’t improved since yesterday evening, can’t keep any food or water down, and is still in pain. He’s on a morphine drip to ease his pain.

She says she would like to try for a couple more days to see if she can turn him around. If there’s no improvement by then, we’ll have a decision to make. A couple more days is about all my budget can handle (doggy hospitals aren’t much cheaper than human hospitals). Of course, that’s really only a secondary concern - a couple more days is all my heart can really handle too.

Staying hopeful, but scared as hell… Thanks for all the support in this thread - it helps much more than I can ever put into words.

(((((TellMeI’mNotCrazy))))

sends extra Puppy mojo
Hope things start to look up for the lil’ guy.
But if they don’t know that you did the very best you could.
Get well, Jerry Lee!

::: shifts healthy puppy vibes into overdrive:::
Poor little guy, we are pulling for you.
Hang in there buddy.

Hang in there, Jerry Lee! And hugs to you TMINC, you hang in there too.

Poor pup. He’s lucky to have such caring underlings.

Plumeria may not be such a good idea- its sap is toxic, and puppies do like to chew…

The Neville kitties and I are hoping your puppy gets better, too.

Get better Jerry Lee!

Yes, I know it’s toxic, but let’s not rain on the parade. Besides, it’s a get-well flower, so it’s perfectly safe. And durable. Immune to chew-breakage, so it’s also a chewtoy. And it’s gonna hang in there dangit.
Cuz I said so.

Get better soon puppy. <3

Jerry Lee lost the fight today, and died at the vet’s office at about 1:30 South Africa time. I can’t thank all of you enough for your well wishes and good thoughts. I don’t have much else to say at the moment, but thank you.

I’m so sorry to hear that.
