By Leonard Pitts of the Miami Herald.
It is not that long, and it is the best thing I have read on this whole tragedy.
It is moving, and sums up my feelings perfectly.
Really. Trust me. It’s a must-read.

damn straight
That one is great. Here is another good article I found.
Hell yeah.
The Post one seems a little, uh, indiscriminate in its rage.
You will note Pitts’ column is very finely honed to address those responsible for what occurred Tuesday. And it’s about more than rage.
Milossarian:
Thank you.
I echo the thanks, Milossarian. That’s one helluva piece of writing.
Me too - great column. Thanks, Mil.
The Leonard Pitts article is a fine piece of writing, and focuses us in the right direction as well as puts forth the correct message to the perpetrators.
The Post article is over-emotional, hypberbolic, and indicative of the worst vengeful tendencies, the same tendencies that create cyclical violent conflicts such as in the Middle East.
Certainly we’re mad. Furious. But the best journalists won’t use blind rage as a thesis for a column, whipping up frenzy like that. It’s such “journalism” that leads to mob mentalities, assaults on innocent Americans that look Arab, and further the militarism that we should have lessened way before this tragic event.
The Post article expresses how we feel, but I hope that the Herald article becomes a guide for how we act.
Amen.
Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
Seriously, this one is a bit much for me to stomach. Turning countries into baseball courts anyone? I read newspapers for serious analysis, not for stuff I could easily write myself.
Read the first article instead, obviously from a guy who has given the subject a bit more thought.
Wtf? I thought hate lead to the dark side?
Wow. Excellent piece of writing and very good insight into the American character. Thanks for the link, Milo. This really was food for thought, as well as a comfort and a statement of the underlying national resolve.
Great article, I got several chills during reading it.
“Aren’t you too intelligent to be reading the New York Post?”
– NYC Gay/Lesbian Alliance bumpersticker, circa 1988
I liked the line “But there’s a gulf of difference between making us bloody and making us fall.”
Damn straight.
Excellent article. Thanks for sharing that Milo. I think it sums up rather nicely what we’re feeling and how these monsters didn’t really know us.
I got an email this morning from a friend and this article/email/rant was there, and I was wondering who had written it. I didn’t know it was an article in the paper by someone, Leonard Pitts.
Great! I’ve never felt such strong unity in my 40 years.
Great article (the first one)
I’m so glad I got to read that. The last few lines gave me goosebumps. Thanks, Milossarian.
